I need to have a chair shipped from Sacramento to Kansas. Seller says "The package will be approximatly 336 X 36 X 36 inches. UPS's secondary shipping company quoted the $169." But he is willing to use a different service if I can find one. Freight shippers are quoting $280 and up.

I remember a thread about this but can't find anything useful without a working search function.

Does anybody have any good suggestions? Speed is not super important, but I hate to ask the seller to jump through any hoops.

Thanks!!

Check Greyhound Buslines package service.

I shipped a two person, highback wooden bench a few months, going from Wash.,DC to Arizona, for about $55.

They do have size restrictions and the items has to be taken to and retreived from their locations.

Items are put into the large compartment under the seating, which is accessed from hatches on the outside of the bus, where large luggage is stored.

Time frame was three days.

Here's a somewhat unorthodox method for trasporting a chair. Be sure to look at the helpful pictures at the bottom of the page.

I shipped a large dining room chair a couple months ago.
I called my local U-haul place---they use UPS for small packages like this.
They did all the packaging and everything...they did a very nice job.
Materials, labor and shipping totalled around $85.
Customer was very happy with the quality packaging.
