Sorry Jack can't sell my Pez's they are too valuable. Yes I collect them and I have boxes full. Saving for my granddaughter's education. By the time she reaches maturity (college) they should be worth a whole lot more, that is if they ever decide to change the patient number.

Never invest in collectables. As soon as you are SURE they are going to go up in value, they will go down. I know a ton of people who have lost a ton of money on sure fire collectables... such as plate, pogs, beanie babies, magic cards, so on. Buy collectables because you want them so much that even if they are not worth anything next week, you would still be happy you bought them. If you are lucky, you will make money when the time comes to sell (when your estate tries to sell).

Pez should hold their value, I would think. Look at this auction as an example: 1083330332

Beanies, plates, etc. were just pumped out to gullible collectors so there is a big difference in future value.

But it is more fun to collect what you enjoy buying for yourself.

Happy Easter, JACKSWEBB.

When I first started selling on ebay my hubby had about 6-8 Pez containers in his junk drawer. They had been collected out of auction box lots over the years, just junk toys to us.

That was before we sold one for $97.00 and another for $185.00. It gives you a new respect for a mere toy.

I don't know about Pez but I have been buying and selling collectable tools, fishing gear, and knives for 20 years. All of these have dropped in price in the last 2 years. The last 6 months have been the worst with many items dropping 50% and more.

I was lucky enough to sell off most of my collectable items before prices hit bottom. I have a number of friends that have lost Thousands of dollars on their collections and probably loosing every day they keep them.

The bottom can drop out of the market for any collectible at any time. Here's one way Pez dispensers could be rendered practically worthless: really, really GOOD fakes that are indistinguishable from the originals. And it's inevitable: most valuable collectibles are faked at some point in their cycle.

Some collectibles are permanently tainted because of the huge number of fakes on the market.

I'm of the opinion that if you want to put money into accumulating objects, make sure it's not only something you enjoy, but something that has intrinsic value. (Meaning it's still worth something even if the collectibility vanishes like dew in sunshine.)
Which is why I collect Tiffany silver and other objects crafted of precious metals.

HEY JACKSWEBB, GLAD YOU BOUGHT UP THE SUBJECT OF PEZ!! Ok, enough capital letters...

I just found a bunch of no footers, paid $2.00 for all, and am wondering if they are genuine no footers or if someone could just break the feet off of a newer Pez? Doesn't look like you can but anyone know for sure?

According to the PEZ FAQ, PEZ candy and the PEZ candy dispenser were invented by Edward Haas III. The letters P-E-Z come from the first, middle and last letters of the German word for peppermint, PfeffErminZ. PEZ was originally sold in Austria as peppermint candy in 1927.

Thanks kiara!

I thought that I would use ALL CAPS in my other post, but it seems the exclusive right to have to do this has already been taken.

HI JACKS WEBB, it's sort of your trademark!

You are right about that. Never invest in collectibles. The smart people sell as many as they can, all the time watching the market, and then pull out while they are on a downhill slide....

That's what we did with beanies...

Yes Jack the feet can be broken so look real careful. What are your patent dates. The patent date is located under pez logo where the pez is written the long way on the stem. New patient number is 4,966.305 the next one down is 3,942.683 they still have feet except for the trucks. Write here if you need anymore information. I really am a collector.......

There's no question that there can be big money in collecting pez dispensers. There's a guy up in the San Jose area that made a few bucks because his fiance was a pez collector. His name's Pierre.

The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.

Right and that was the beginning of eBay, but not as we see it now.

Interesting Pez story, if you can stand another one. My friend and I went to this large sale, mostly glass, few toys. Well in one room were toys and I never go to look at them, but she said all the toys were broken. Wrong. for 10 cents I got an original pez, the one that looks like a lighter. 1952. Not bad for a days work. Love those sales. People just don't think that they are worth anything because being plastic. I also went to an estate sale and for 75 cents I got Bullwinkle Pez, brown stem. I guess that is the best purchase I have ever made. I still have it in my collection. I could pay off a lot of debts with that one.

I wonder if Pierre's wife still collects Pez and if they buy any on ebay these days? He has the money to get any they want.

Hmmm....I wonder if they snipe them?

This Pez is kind of boring but it brought lots of money.
