I'm basically off the boards this week to take some time to reorganize my files, and do business catch up work....therefore I don't really have a READ on the market and movement of sales on the board, at the moment.

HOW are bids and sales going this week? Since we are between Easter and April 15th, have things slowed down (generally speaking) ?

In a word, S-L-O-W.

Our sales died right around St. Patrick's Day. I think you're smart to take this time off. I'll be working half-days this week. I'm not even bothering to list anything April 1-15; it's like throwing money down a rathole.

We have also moved from the peak winter season on ebay to spring. There are simply less people perusing our auctions. And more sellers than ever posting.

With ebay growth stagnant except for international, the downturn, which once was offset with new bidders, is becoming much more noticeable this year.

I think sales WILL pick up after April 15, though. That's been my experience the last couple of years. I think it's a good idea to chart these down times and plan for them by setting money aside, if needed.

Yes, last weekend's sales were the lowest of this entire year.

Sales for us are steady. We have no bids until the last day, but they are still bidding. (knock on wood)
Sold a Preppie Handbook for $50.00 this week, usually they don't go nearly that high.

Games, books and records are doing pretty well for me. Well enough to keep the bills paid anyway...

Sales for me have been non stop since Christmas.

I think it has a lot to do with what you sell, how you sell and the number of people on eBay selling the same product.

I sell cast iron products and have competition, but some of the items I sell are not sold by anyone else on eBay.

I've sold almost as much in the last three month as all of 2001.

Things were going pretty well until today. There were NO last minute bidders at all. Stuff that normally gets great last minute bids sold at minimum bid.

What a disapointment!

IT REALLY DEPENDS WHAT YOU SELL!!! Truer words have Not Been Spoken!! Certain Areas on eBay are Still VERY Hot, and some Categories are Painfully S-L-O-W (Glutted with Merchandise and lacking Bidders). My Business has been Pretty Good, BUT I start My Auctions at 99 Cents (a Small Fraction of Retail),No Reserves, and Ship AT Cost, and Have VERY Good Feedback. I have noticed an INCREASE in my Deadbeats, and an interesting Trend, More People using BILLPOINT as opposed to PayPal. Don't get me wrong, most still use PayPal BUT a sharp increase in Billpoint over the Last Two Months.

I love the slow sales I have been buying lots of bargins dirt cheap and resaleing them at my local auction house for alot more than I paid. The funny part about it is that a large percentage of the people buying my items at the auction house are buying to resale on ebay and they are paying way to much. 3 months ago I got a new id for buying only and already have 235 pos.feedback.I'm sure my mail lady hates me because of all the packages that come every day.

My sales are brisk (In my opinion) because I am able to buy products at a reasonable price and sell at a very reasonable BIN price on 99% of my sales.

I seldom sell an item on auction or with a reserve unless it's a hot item in high demand.

In most cases I can sell cheaper than my competition because I buy in bulk and maintain a very large inventory.

I watch the competition and if they sell an item on a 7 - 10 day auction for $30.00 i'll sell 10 of the same items for $22.00 each (Using BIN) during the same time frame.

I have a comfortable profit margin built into my BIN prices and ship a lot of merchandise each day. I run 100 - 400 auctions at all times.
