I had an auction close 3/27, paid and shipped priority mail 4/2. This was a pair of EMME pants, $159 retail. The auction closed at $21. TODAY, a month later, I get an email saying they are not fully lined. I never said they were! I did state the the inside lining was 100% Polyester.
She wants to return them for a full refund. If this was the week she received the package, that would be a different store. BUT 30 days later?
I am thinking of responding with this:
This transaction closed on March 27, 2002. I shipped them to you over a
month ago, not even a retail store would allow a return after 30 days.
I am sorry to say that I will not authorize a refund.
What do you all think?

No, you are right that thirty days is way too much time. Sounds more like bidders remorse.
I would not accept a return this late.

I don't get it....
I've had several of these types of requests over the years of selling on eBay and just don't understand why people do this or what the heck they are thinking. Yah there are some retail stores that will take returns up to 90 days but ebay isn't a retail sales venue its an auction site.

I have a blurb in my "Your item has shipped..." email about the return policy. I offer a full refund (less shipping) as long as the item is returned within 7 days of receipt (and I ALWAYS use DC) in the original condition. I wouldn't give anyone 30 days! She probably wore the pants, anyway.

Don't, I repeat, don't let her get away with it. She probably received the pants wore them a few times, gained some weight and wants to return them.
NOT A CHANCE! would be the proper response.

Glad to see that I am not the only one that thinks she is out of line.
I have been selling for over 2 years and this is a first for me.

Well I sent the email as I stated above.
This is her response -
Your email response is really unfortunate! Look at
the order of events below:
Transaction Ended: March 27th
Payment Processed: March 29th (Good Friday)
Shipment Occurred: Tuesday, April 2nd (since you only
ship on Friday's and Tuesdays and Friday happened to
be a public holiday...)
Purchase Rec'd: Friday, April 5th
I wrote to you on May 2nd, which IS within 30 days.
I am a fairly new "player" on ebay and this
transaction leaves a bad taste in my mouth...
If the advertisement doesn't fully disclose accurate
information about the auction, then it should be the
responsibility of the seller to make the situation
right.
You can count on me and all of my other Ebay friends
to not buy from you in the future as well as provide
negative feedback.
THE NEG IS COMING! Now I must go block this bidder.

Sorry to hear that.
From what you said in your original post, the information was not inacurate and she should have asked before bidding if they were fully lined. I really doubt that had anything to do with her decision to return them.

She is "playing" the wrong way. I think it's best to teach them when they come out the gate that this is an auction. Hold firm and don't give in to threats.

If she negs you be sure to respond to her comments with what really happened.
I'm sorry, but 30 days later with an article of clothing is a nobrainer as far as I'm concerned.
Had this been something that usage wasn't an issue I could see giving her a partial refund and recouping the loss by resaling the item.
But clothes? You have got to be kidding!

You know, that's funny-odd.
My really aggressive bu#h0le bidders have also been "fairly new" to eBay, but roar into the transaction with the ferocity of a barracuda snacking on a sardine.
I'm wondering if there's a book out there ("eBay for dumb$hits" or something) telling them this is the way to get what they want. I know that some published pieces have been written from the all-sellers-are-eeeeevil perspective.
Don't be a sardine.
The point is not it's 30 days later; the point is that it is an unacceptably long time between the date of receipt and now.

I will NOT give in...rarely do.
I am not at all concerned about feedback. I have plenty and get more everyday. My feedback rating is 3410 positives..2430 unique....5 neutrals...2 negatives. This one will be the third (if it comes).
If she negs me...I will put a comment...shipped 4/2 rec'd 4/5 wanted to return 5/2 TOO MUCH TIME.
I will also put a follow up remark on the positve I already left her....Rec'd CLOTHING item 4/5 wanted to return it on 5/2.
She currently has 12 feedback all positive all unique. She registered in October of 2001.
