We recently received a neutral that said, in essence, 'the transaction was incomplete, no fault to buyer or seller'.

I won't go into details about the transaction because that's not important. My question is, why leave neutral feedback in the first place. If I don't have anything good or bad to say, I don't see any reason to leave feedback at all.

I would leave a neutral for a seller who shipped my stuff but they took forever or I had to resend shipping info a half dozen times because they are poorly managed.

It does not get a neg in my opinion because I did get what I paid for. Its like a warning to future bidders saying yeah you get your crap........but whenever this seller gets his head out of his "bleep" and gets organized.

I would leave a neutral for a bidder who was unnessecarily rude or obnoxious or extremely slow paying with a dozen I sent payment yesterday emails.

They would not get a neg since they did pay.

Again a warning to others that .....yeah you'll get paid..........eventually so don't hold your breathe in waiting.

I only leave negs for non paying bidders, or non shipping, theiving sellers.

I agree with lovepotions, nuturals have a purpose. short story.. Buyer didn't get item, wife needed to paint room things got moved, couldn't find package or item, assumed it was mailed, email server went out of
business, changed email, buyer couldn't or didn't contact me. buyer leaves Neutural weeks later, I emailed buyer offer refund no reply. I'm greatful they didn't neg me..Story done!!

Those kind of neutrals are ok. At least there's a valid reason for them. In this case, the check was lost in the mail and both parties mutually decided to not complete the transaction? This was a completely neutral neutral.

Anyway, imo, I would rather not leave feedback for a non-transaction..

hi outoftheblue I personally either leave a positive, no feedback or (rarely) negative. Sometimes people either don't know what they are doing or accidentally leave a neutral when they intended to leave a pos or neg.

I agree with clarksville-

I either leave positive, nothing or very rarely negative. If I get paid I don't care if it takes a while (reasonable while -- I give everyone 30 days because I am just not that worried about it and 99% pay within that time). The other 1% still get a positive, just no mention of prompt payment if they pay at all.

Neutrals as far as I am concerned are a waste of time! One of my "neutrals" came from a bidder who didn't like my packing -- newspapers. He said it arrived safely, promptly, but didn't like the newspapers. It did arrive safely so why complain??? He didn't tell me not to pack in newspapers. The item was wrapped in bubble wrap prior to placing newspapers in the box.

Oh well, some people are just never pleased and I guess the neutral works for them!

I use neutrals when the seller fails to ship unless I email them several times, ships late, etc. I just left a neutral for a half.com purchase. The book I ordered was wrapped in paper no box/ bubble mailer. The book was fine, but the wrapping was not appropriate. I won't be buying from them again. Since the product was fine, they did not get a negative. I managed to not rip it cutting into the tape and paper.

IMO, that was an appropriate use of a neutral. You weren't pleased with the way it was packaged (because it could have been ruined), but you got lucky and received the item in an undamaged state, so there was no need for a negative.

I guess this doesn't really pertain to this particular thread but I was amazed at what Lindajean had said about the customer who gave her a neutral because she had used newspaper as a filler for packing. I do the same thing all the time. I pack item in bubblewrap, tissue, whatever and to fill excess space, I use newspaper. I don't charge a handling fee and this is why, I recycle shipping materials and use whatever I have on hand. But my items are always very well packed and I never have had a complaint (knock on wood!). I would never wrap the actual item in newspaper because the stuff is dirty but that's what we have soap and water for, go wash your hands! This just proves, there are some people that no matter how hard you try, they're going to find something to complain about. Let's just keep the faith, that this percentage stays in the minority.

Oh well, let me get off my soapbox now!

I would never acutually wrap anything in newspaper. When I helped move my mother's stuff I carefully wrapped a lot of glass ware in newspaper. What I didn't know is that the print would rub off and leave black marks all over the items.
