Tell them to mail the book back, that you have it specially marked to make sure that it is the same book you sent. Of course you don't have it marked but they don't know that.

Hi petpost, I didnt authorize it, half.com did. Even if you can prove the item was delivered via Dc, orthat you tell half.com that yo sent a new item, not used, it's your word against the buyer. They just emailed me a canned respose saying buyer did a charge back on their credit card, and that amount will be removed from my seller account. This is the 5th fraud I faced as a seller at half.com, i am moving all my stuff to ebays. at lease ebays unless you have billpoint, the buyer cannot mess with your account.

Did the other 4 keep the items as well? I think there is something that can be done, even if you have to file a lawsuit.

ahc3, this is what the others did
1) buyer post negative feedback, claim I kept their money, so I checked and according to usps tracking, they refused the item, then put a negative feedback on me, claiming I never sent the item. item was a very rare video game, sells real well in ebay, item never came back to me, my postmaster told me media mail refusal goes to the deadmail file, so I tell half.com the tracking shows they refused it, not my fault, I am out of an item, but half kept harrasing me to send them another one, which I dont have, so they took the 50.00 away from my account
2) sold a rare oop DVD, it was new, sells for 100 dollars at ebays, 2 month after mailing it, buyer claim it was damaged, I took it back, and for a new dvd, it had what looked like someone skated all over it, half.com took away 100.00 out of my account
3) buyer bought a remake of an old movie on vhs, the half.com page stated this is the remake, the cast list was the remake, the image of the video was that of the remake, buyer contacted saying I sent the wrong item, wanted the original, not the remake, i said I sent the exact item as listed correctly on half.com, 2 month later half.com took away 27.85 out of my account, buyer never mailed back the video
4) I accidently sent the wrong item to 2 people. One was kind enough to return the video game in its original condition, told him would mail back the correct game once recieved from the other buyer, other buyer took 6 weeks to return the game, however the other buyer OPENED the new game, must have played with it, for the cartridge was worn, istruction was in bad shape, so since I couldnt mail back the game to the honest guy, they took away 34.87.
And I had one or two more problems with another video games.
and now the recent one. sheesh, at least ebays, all you will get is a bad, no charge back, half.com really was a bad idea for me. ):

You know, you just might want to consider selling something else. There have been many posts here about buyers of DVDs and videos and video games playing dead-serious games with sellers, fraudulent etc. I keep thinking it's young men with larceny on their minds and nothing better to do with their time.
I've sold many books on Half.com and had only one problem, and that was the cost of shipping vs. what was allowed $13.30 vs. 3.95. No other problems in two years.
That being said, I agree that Half.com could clean up their act a bit. Buyers aren't ALWAYS right, as some of us know! Sometimes they're crooks.

Hi outoftheblue, you mean the vhs tape? Yep, they kept it, kept emailing half.com, all I get is a canned response about if the buyer does a chargeback (which apperently they can do up to 3 times a year) there is nothing a seller can do about it. We sellers are very open to frauds in half.

I would have quit Half.com a long time ago if I had had your problems. Seems like their motto is "The buyer is always right".

I quit selling on Half.com a year ago,and you couldn't pay me to buy something from there. Its a waste as far as I'm concerned.
