I could kick in the A$$ myself for this one.
I was going through our feedback profile, as I do every day and returning positive feedbacks. Today my wife informed me I had left positive feedback for someone who hadn't paid.
Now I'm hesitant to file a NPB. How would it look if the person points out that positive feedbacks had been exchanged for the transaction?
This is the second time we've had a non payer leave a glowing positive for fast shipment and excellent items.

I did that a couple of times from the Ebay feedback page. Now I only leave it from my auction software site so I know I have received payment. I know exactly how you feel!

Hey, I think that has happened to us all at one time or another. Personally, I'd be a little too embarassed to file a NPB. Maybe, just chalk it up to the cost of a lesson learned.

I use Channel Advisor. Part of the post sale management allows you to post multiple feedbacks. As an item is paid for, shipped etc. an icon lights up so you always know which stage the item is in.
The auction templates are no where near as neat as AW's but the after sale management is the best I have seen.

Can't say that I have off the top of my head. Could be wrong, though. It is easy to do. Shoot, I may do just that this weekend!

I just keep AW PSM updated with payments, and only do FB from that psm page. Easy and trouble-free.

I would go ahead and file for NPB & FVF. eBay ignores requests to remove unwarranted negatives most of the time. They'll probably ignore this FB, too. If they bother to ask, tell them it was left in error with a ton of others; they can always remove it, right?

I have also done that same thing twice. There is a way to amend the feedback by a response. I just can't remember how I did it. Maybe somebody here can help out. I just put in beneath the positive feedback that I had left it in error and that they were actually NPB and that it should have been a neg. Good luck..

If you would start to leave negs when you should, you wouldn't have that kind of trouble. Always leave a neg for deadbeats. There is no one to blame but yourself.

Um, caffeitalia, I think I am pretty much aware of that..
First of all, we haven't filed a NPB yet or filed for FVFs. Even if I did leave negs, I wouldn't do it backwards. So really, your other statements are irrelevant. First file a NPB, then file FVF, then leave a neg.

I recently received feedback from a customer that had not paid for two auctions.
Their feedback was:
Wonderful to deal with!! Thanks again! and
Very patient, a great dealer!! A+++++
I felt this odd as I had not received their payment, nor hid I shipped their auction wins.
I was within one day of filing FVF and received their money order the day before filing it. This was at day 25.
It's hard to figure some customers. I did leave positive feedback but it wasn't glowing with praise. Their feedback is now at 12.

Doesn't eBay remove feedback at the poster's request?
I know it's next to impossible to have negative feedback someone left for you removed, but if the poster requests a feedback be removed, doesn't eBay remove it?
Just curious.
And, I've had people leave me feedback when they hadn't paid for the item. I suspect they did it in an effort to prevent me from filing NPB, FVF, and neg'ing them.

I left positive feedback to a deadbeat with a -2 rating so my Negative would have probably got him NARU. I was leaving a bunch of feedbacks at one time and by mistake hit positive. He got 2 more Negatives in the next few days and got what he deserved.

If you left positive feedback after 25 days, you are a very patient seller. I am too but that's rare. When I browse the listings most auctions have the "Negative feedback will be given if payment is not recieved within 10 days" statement.

This could be wrong but I don't believe that negative feedback will get a person suspended. I know filing for FVFs will.
Anyone know for sure whether having a -3 or -4 rating will get you suspended or not?

I have to disagree about always leaving negatives, but the thing is that different people manage feedback differently. If that works for you, great. I don't view that as best for my business, so I don't do that. It is an individual choice on how or whether you leave feedback. It is an optional part of ebay, not required.

A -3 total feedback rating will get you NARU from eBay. I am proud to say I have helped in at least 5 deadbeat bidders being NARU.

That's good to know. There was a -2 bidder who paid for one of our auctions but was just a huge pain every step of the way. Maybe I should give them a neg and make them a -3.

outoftheblue if you do give them the negative that makes them -3 email eBay to bring it to there attention. They usually NARU them the next day but if you don't bring it to there attention it will take longer.

I've been doing ebay for 4 years. I got my first 2 bounced checks this week after leaving positive feedback. I never waited for a check to clear and never had a problem. But now, there's a problem. So....The lesson is...No checks accepted. Only money orders and Paypal. Too bad but that's what I have to do.

eBay removed a Positive feedback someone
left for me. They used my first name
in the comment, and I send eBay a note
asking if another comment could be left
if that one was removed, BUT stressing
that I was not asking for its removal.
I received a note back saying that a
new comment could not be left, and it
was up to me if the current one was
removed or not. I again said NO, that
I would just keep the Positive (quoting
all previous e-mail). A few days later
some jerk at eBay removed it anyway!
I asked for it to be put back, and was
told that it couldn't be and that I
had asked for it to be taken down and
anyway policy doesn't allow me to decide
(which contradicts what they had just
said). I quoted back all e-mail again,
proving they were wrong, and never heard
back from them. I wonder why... The
less contact I have with eBay customer
service[SIC] the better.
