I have a buyer that I'm waiting to hear back from in Japan, I'm in the US. They immediately used my link to my server to pay with their credit card, which is fine, but I hadn't yet given them their options on shipping. I did so after getting their address, (I'd requested it at the same time they sent their info). Anyway, I'm now waiting to hear how they want it shipped, slow boat or express? The difference is about $7, not much I know, but I would like to take it to the post office with my other packages tomorrow. Hopefully they'll email before then. If not, what would you do?
ADDED:
I guess I better clarify, sorry. All my ads state shipping will be calculated based on the high bidder's location. I then email the high bidder (usually within minutes of the auction end) requesting their address to calculate shipping. This particular bidder used my secure order button immediately following the close of the auction. I had his address at this point, emailed him again giving him his options and now I wait. I was just curious what others would do if they didn't hear back from a bidder. Would you just mail it for the cheap or expensive rate?

Well, I did say the difference between the two was $7, but if you must know the exact amount, the slow 4-7 weeks was $16 and the speedy 4-7 days was $23.

I think he means, above the total auction amount, how much did they add to their payment to go toward shipping? If it doesn't cover it, don't send it. The way I see it, if they don't pay for everything, including shipping, then I will hold it as sold, just not deliverable. When they pay, I send.

International bidders should know to email the seller for a shipping quote first. Hold on to the package until you hear from him.

twinsoft,
I disagree with your statement. It is the sellers responsibility to contact all winners before the transaction is made. The seller needs to state that the shipping terms are for USA shippments and international bidders need to e-mail with there country to get an updated shipping amount. One mistake that is getting too popular with many sellers is allowing a payment link in their auctions. This does create much confusion among many buyers as they do not fill in the amounts correctly in many cases. It is much better to send a personal WBN (never an automated one) with all of the info. You can send a link with the e-mail for paypal ect.

You had better hold the package until you hear from them. If they don't reply, send it the slow way. In any case, you sure don't want to get stuck paying $7 more.

Personally, I use the ebay blurb that says 'ship to US only'. When I do get the occasional int'l order, even if they pay first, I always get the proper shipping out of them. That little blurb reminds them that I am doing them a favor even honoring their bid.
