Take a look at this.
This seller stole my content and image.

Man. I cannot believe a seller with many feedbacks would do such a thing.

Asia, he is accessing your hosting space? So you are the one that wrote Do Not Bid etc?

I'm sorry, it is lame, BUT

change it to

Half off and Free Shipping if you use the Buy it now

LOL

I heard someone did that with someone stealing their pics I would love to see it, and there is nothing he can do except shut his auction down, or ..... ???

I agree - plus this person has a lot of negatives. I'm guessing he doesn't check his auctions once they're listed. Put something outrageous in there instead. That will REALLY teach him a lesson!

The three auctions are now invalid items.

The few times someone linked to my pictures, I replaced them with xxx porno shots of a couple in real heavy sex. Fortunately, there were already bids on the items so he could not edit the ad to change the links to my images.

Another time I added this graphic text over the image: "this computer does not work and you are on your own when you buy it. There are no guarantees and no refunds"

Yes, they will be in your same auction. You have to revise your auctions to point to a different picture. If your auction has bids, either sell it, cancel it, or wait until it is over. I love when they hotlink!

I once had a scum seller in Latin America that was hotlinking to a picture of mine. Someone on this board knew Spanish so I placed in big fat red colors, SPECIAL 50% OFF, FREE EXPRESS SHIPPING.

How can you re-do anything to an image if some takes the picture off eBay and saves it in their j-peg file and then uses it on their own auction?

Should it be okay to "borrow" from each other - share? I know people have borrowed my content (item descriptions) to use on their own auctions - I've stumbled on it a few times!

If someone right clicks and saves your image to their hard drive there's nothing you can do - this person did not do that. They simply "linked" to the hosting site. And if Asia pays by the image like on some AW plans, she was charged for his images.

Before I upload any images to AW, I use PaintShopPro to add my username to the auction, making sure it laps over part of the item or otherwise cannot be cropped or masked out. Because PSP always merges text with the images when you save, anyone stealing my pix will have my user ID on their auction.

Someone on this board also has a "no right click" script they include in their auctions, but the text works fine for me.

If somebody asks, nicely, I will usually share my pix with them. I have the un-texted versions on my hard drive.

I was using the no right click on mine, there is a simple way to get the picture though, even with that.....

And I got complaints! A couple bidders complained about the no right click I had on, because they saved every picture they bid on and won...

So I changed and put text in my picture.
They took the pic anyway and cropped off my text! I just thought it wouldn't look right if I put text in the middle of the picture.

Sometimes you can't win

I would love it if someone directly linked to my picture. I would put in it, 50% off and Free Shipping also But then I cannot search out every auction......

NearTheSea I worried about it looking "right" too. I try to make it work as best I can.... when it's just one item, a little bit of overlap usually does the trick. I've taken to arranging multiple items so they form a "hole" in the middle for the logo. To be honest, I don't really even care that much if they take the picture...I just don't want people accusing me of picture thieving (as has happened to other posters here.)

I don't worry about it either, and I don't want to go looking for them either..

I think its the same for me, I don't want people to think that I stole the picture!

I'm glad you brought that up! Someone did take my picture, and then a potential? bidder asked me why I would steal someone elses! Well I take all my own, so they obviously took mine.... That is what bothers me.

And it doesn't cost me more if someone actually was gutsy enough to link to my hosting site. If someone did that, and I found out... I think I may get 'cute' and replace it with 50% off and Free Shipping for them

You know... You can always use CSS to put a transparent .gif image right on top of your image in the listings... By doing this, when they right-click-download, or try to link directly, they will usually only get the transparent gif. You could even anchor the two images together with CSS...

could work...
