I listed several auctions starting at 7.50 with a reserve of $25 (stupid me, should have used $24.99, but that's a different matter ).

Anyway, ebay charged me $1.10 for insertion AND $1.00 reserve fee. I understand the reserve fee is refundable if I hit the reserve, but why $1.10 insertion? I read the ebay sellers stuff again to see if the rates had skyrocketed, but cannot find anything to indicate that this was the proper insertion fee. Any help?

I'm not sure why are you asking this?

The rate for 25.00 - 49.99 is $1.10.

I'm asking for all the reasons stated in the original question. See it's not edited. Please pay attention before answering -- especially if you're going to be rude.

The STARTING PRICE is $7.50. The insertion fee should have been $0.30 (according to the price charts on ebay.com). It says reserve price auctions are charged the regular insertion fee PLUS the reserve fee ($1) in this case.

The insertion fee only says it's based on the starting price -- NOT the reserve price.

You paid the correct amount. Check the following linkhttp://webhelp.ebay.com/cgi-bin/eHNC/showdoc-ebay-aol-aol.tcl?docid=687&queryid=fees

But eBay insists that "Insertion fees are based on the starting bid (minimum opening bid) or the reserve price, whichever is higher."

And I was >not< trying to be rude...

Ok, well the problem appears to be that ebay says one thing in one place and something else in another. Thanks for the links.

The insertion fee is equal to the reserve price. Not sure if it is intentional that way, it just is.
