Since the rates are going up on June 30th, is there a better alternative for shipping? Or how will people put in shipping costs in their TOS if the prices in different zones are different in price. Is UPS the answer?

Was thinking maybe UPS until I went there yesterday and saw a LINE that looked like pre-christmas time. I almost never use them based on the abuse all my incoming packages they deliver gets, but had to mail several hundred pounds of stuff to a client and for that they are the only choice.
I commented to the (clueless) girl at the counter about the crowd and she told me it started a few weeks ago and seems to be getting worse. She said they are having troubles keeping up with the amount of packages coming to them (translationELAYS) for shipping and said she heard something about the post office not taking packages.(Like I said, she was CLUELESS!!!!)
Just wonder if anyone else has seen/heard of big jump in UPS loads around the country. We have a small office in a small town here and I was amazed to see the lines there yesterday...
Also, thought I saw somewhere else online about UPS union contracts coming due soon but am not sure on that.
Think I'm gonna chat with Fedex Ground for the heavy stuff here and just raise my "Standard" s/h from $5.00 to $6.00 as we ship mostly smaller items. Some mail order catalogs are charging $8.00 min. s/h already, so I will not feel guilty about it personally.

FIND A COMPANY CLOSE TO YOU THAT SHIPS UPS. I DID. I TACK ON THREE BUCKS FOR THEIR SECRETARIES TIME. SHE LOVES IT. 60-80 PACKAGES A MONTH AVERAGE. X $3.00= REAL HAPPINESS. I SELL A SIMPLE RELIST ITEM OVER AND OVER. 16 POUNDS, A COMPETITOR SELLS THE SAME THING, USES PRIORITY USPS, INSANE! FIGURES OUT TO BE $25.00. HAHAHAHAHA THAT'S ALMOST THE PRICE OF THE ITEM. UPS RATE IS $12.00+ THE $3.00. MY CUSTOMERS ARE REEEEALLY HAPPY THEY BOUGHT FROM ME. SHOOT I EVEN, LIKE A FOOL TOLD THE COMPETITION A LONG TIME AGO. NO CHANGE, STILL STATES TOS PRIORITY. INSANE.
