Here is the situation:
I have an item on auction that will close in less than 2 days. I have 2 bidders so far. After checking the high bidder's feedback I am a little worried. (I have had a HUGE amount of NPBs lately.) Now the bidder has been with Ebay for about 5 months and has done most of the bidding since the beginning of the year. There are 6 positives as a buyer up until april. Every single feedback since then is a negative for Not contacting or not paying.
I guess there is not much I can do until the auction ends but if this person wins, Oh, geez, I don't want to go through Ebay's NPB program. It takes so long to recoup the charges. ( I tell ya' I have had more NPBs in the last 6 months than I have had in my 1 year selling on Ebay
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated

Recently I had a bidder, with several negatives, win one of my auctions. I never had a problem with them. They paid promptly, the emails were nice, etc.
I later got a letter from another seller asking me if my experience was good as they were having a bad one with this person and that the law was involved at this point.
I haven't a clue why, what, etc. I only know that I had not a problem with this person. They promptly sent a money order to me; I shipped the item; they left great feedback and so did I for them....among the many bad they had received as a buyer.
So, you never know. I wouldn't worry about what you think may happen in the future, but just wait and see. You then can add this person to your 'blocked list' of people to bid on your auctions.
Here's hoping you have the same experience as I did....a good experience with a bad buyer per everyone else.

I have been very fortunate with bidders who have bad feedback and almost all have paid though some have been slower than others.
I think it depends a lot on the categories that you sell in. Some attract more deadbeats than others. If the category you are selling in has been bad for you in the past it may not look so good now.
Good luck with your auction.

You can cancel the buyers bid and blacklist them so they don't replace it. That's what I'd do without hesitation. Why put yourself through potential aggravation?

If you're willing to possibly lose the sale, cancel the bid, I'm doing it more often these days, with no remorse. I'd rather relist than have to deal with another deadbeat.

First of all, Thank you VERY much for all of your help! Believe me, it is TRULY appreciated!
Don't you get in trouble for canceling a bid like that? I thought it was against Ebay rules??????

why not email the bidder and express your concern ? his answer ought to tell you a lot ?
if you are not confortabel with his answer you can cancle his bid and put him on your blocked bidder list so he cant bid on your auctions...no problems from ebay with this
spock here......

You can cancel a bid for any reason, especially when the credibilty of the other person is in question. Ebay doesn't get involved.

I'd do what Mr. Spock suggests. In fact, I did that once myself with a bidder who'd gotten some recent negative feedback. I received a really nice message from him in which he honestly told me the problem...He ended up winning the auction and paid promptly. So, e-mail the bidder and see what he says...good luck!

I have a very similar situation. My auction ended 12 days ago & I cannot get any response from the high bidder. We aren't talking about a lot of $$, less than $10.00 including shipping, but it makes me disgusted to have this happen. The bidder is a newbie with only 7 pos fdbcks. I have warned them that unless I hear today I will give them a neg. Still no answer. I wonder oif we have the same bidder??

Unless the item you are selling is very cheap or hard to sell I would cancell the bid and block them from bidding on your items. If it is cheap or hard to sell I would take a chance and see if they pay.

Well, this has sure been a real learning experience. Thank you all for your help and sharing your experiences. I am glad I brought this issue here. I have really learned alot. Good thing this isnt a diamond or ferrari I am trying to sell.
I don't know if this is a hard to sell item or not. This is the first time I have put one of theses items up on auction before. Right now the bid price is under $10 so I guess I shouldn't sweat it too much. It's just so darn frustrating to go through the hassle of emailing them a few times, sending all the necessary notices from ebay that wait the required 10 days and THEN relist the darn thing.

Since you said you have 2 bidders on your item, I would cancel the bad bidders bid and blacklist them. Let the first bidder win the auction. Who knows, you may have another bidder bid if you cancel the bogus bid as well.

I wouldn't cancel the bid yet. I would wait until it is closer to the end of the auction and see if anyone bids higher than the person who's bid is questionable.

Manny, there are three hours left. Looks like this guy did a proxy bid because, he is STILL the high bidder. The item still isnt up to $10 yet
