Got an email from eBay yesterday asking me about something. I responded from my work PC. Today, I get another one telling me that unless I respond from my registered email address, I will become eBay toast (NARU).
Problem is my home PC (the one with the registered email address) was taken off line a week or so ago due to the agony of geek SPAM. I now use HotMail at work to read my POP3 email going to my home address.
Of course, eBay says "Hey, you're not you."
I sent them another email today (from here) and suggested that they send a "test email" to my registered email address and I would answer it from here.
Do you think they'll buy this, or are my eBay days numbered?

Sounds like you may want to run out and stock up on some Jam/Jelly.
If you can't be reached by your registered Email address you're in violation of their contact rules and will not last long!

Will I run into a problem too if I have eBay setup with my mailstep.com (AW) address? It forwards to my real email, but I wont be able to send email from that address.

Too late! It appears they have already suspended my account ... can't even get in to see who I am
I wonder if they will send me a cheque for the credit I had in my account?

This happened a while back to me too. I got NARUed because my email was not functioning. I managed to correspond with them with my new email address explaining the problem and they unNARUed me so I could change my registered email address. They checked it again about a week later to be sure it worked and I repied.
I used the [email protected] email address.
Good luck, it still took about a week to resolve.

If you are using a POP3 on another computer how did ebay know that your main one was down. I thought if you used a POP3 that whent to a different computer that was still your main email address. Call your ISP tech support and ask them. Wow, I didn't think eBay could move that fast.

I don't think it was the email they sent me that caused the problem. It was the response I sent back from my Hotmail address that confused them.
I am going to write them off as they don't seem to be interested in buyer customer service anyway.
Thanks all ...

No, they just hate stupid Canadians.
They only let the smart ones stay on the system.

All *is* well ... I finally got that monkey off my back. Besides, as I am now NARU (for whatever reason they have chosen) I cannot get in to change anything.

RB has been here several times before when he has been suspended from ebay also. What is this now, the 3rd suspension from ebay?
Bad, bad auction sites!!

it's not a big deal any way who wants a buyer bidding on there item they can not send email too ???
valid email address is nessary to be a bidder on ebay , this type of thing is what many deadbeats do on other auction sites to bid just for fun and never be contacted or have to be contacted to pay..

Hey dman3 ...
Since the middle of December, 2001, a total of 156+ sellers were able to contact me just fine. eBay can contact me too ... they just don't seem to be able to understand how they can send an email to one address and get a response from another address.
This email forwarding stuff is pretty high tech so I guess the eBay drones haven't figured it out yet.
To the rest of my supporters, you're 100% correct about me being suspended from every auction venue in the world (some more than once). But, these suspensions all had something to do with so-called selling "violations". I haven't sold anything on any auction venue since way before December of 2001.
I guess us Canadians don't toe the eBay line as well as you American sheep do ... we like to ride on the edge. It's riskier, but a lot more fun

Hmmmmmm..... memories. I thought you said something different here? A couple of days after that, I received a 15 day suspension notice from eBay for "bid manipulation". They told me that I was not allowed to retract a bid.

Not to worry, my friend. I love all Canadians.
My heart just Bleats for you.
