Our Post Office just hired 2 new people to our mail route. These new people have decided leave all my incoming packages on top of my mailbox which sit by the curb on the street. Anybody can stroll by & help themselves to my packages. If I am given a shipping choice from a seller, I may choose UPS if the price isn't too far out.
What I want to know is this. Does anyone here know the USPS policy regarding mailboxes and home delivery. Are they justified in leaving packages on top of the mailbox by the street. Is there any rule that covers this?
I sent an e-mail to the website, but they just said "talk to your local Post Office".
BEFORE I talk to them, I want to know what the policy is.
Anyone know or can provide a link? I tried to find it on the site with no luck.
Maybe I'll have to buy a bigger mailbox, but what about the packages that are too big for that?

I've never heard of that policy. I have a street mailbox and if they left any packages out there they would be gone in 5 minutes.
The may want people to rent mailboxes and reduce deliveries that way. Sometimes it seems like each post office is it's own kingdom, with it's own rules.

I have never seen that happen. I have had pkgs left on my porch when I wasn't home. I live in a mobil home park & have a central box location. There boxes that are for pkgs, but if the pkg is too big or too many pkgs, they deliver to the door. Better complain to Postmaster about this.

Thanks, guys. I guess I'll have to wear the black hat and go complain. They have been in such a nasty mood since the price change, I hate to even go in. Oh well........
