Almost pointless to list. I'd hoped for a free list day but I guess that's not going to happen.

Mine have been zip because I've not listed this month. Thinking back to this time last year, my sales had definitely dropped, so I took/am taking a short hiatus from listing--->need to save money on listing fees, especially when there are little or no sales. Probably will take another week or possibly two off the way it looks and sounds...Maybe August will be better - fingers crossed!

I have had a great month so far. About an 85% sales rate with prices a little above average.

Nope not tomyou on e-bay wwtraders. to many wackos on this board to cause grief to use my ebay id on here.I see you have only been on the board for 3 months so maybe you are unaware of that fact. I have been here for over three years and have found that not using your e-bay id is a MUCH better idea. Sorry I gave my opinon and how my sales are going to you but I made the mistake of thinking thats what you asked for. Just for the record I have had 450 auctions close so far this month with 375 sales so .8333 would be a more accurate account. I will avoid your posts in the future or at least be sure to ask you what my opinion is or my records indicate !

Sales are great for all our userids. Over 90% sellthrough on the low-starting-bid no-reserve auctions. I had wanted to maintain a 600 auction level but it's hard to do with so many payments coming in that have to be processed.
That's the other weird thing: seems like people are actually paying, and more or less on time.

Good stats tomyu. I've always felt it was a cop out to blame certain times of the year for bad sales. It's okay to take a vacation but don't blame a certain time of the year for poor sales. Christmastime is great for selling but every seller is trying his hardest to sell their wares then as well.

Thanks for the kind words. You see this every year and I have a theory about it. Seems people see doom and gloom for the summer months of June, july and august so they list all their leftovers that they don't normally sell during "peak" times. Then when these things don't get many bids they feel it is because of the time of year when it is actually the quality of merchandise being offered. I sell basically the same thing (same categories anyways) year round and there really is a minimal difference in price and success. With the exception of Mid Nov to Dec when things really pick up for all those x-mas gifts. Rest of the other months are always within 5% or so of the same success rate and prices.I do realize some people deal in seasonal items and of course different times of year are much worse than others as far as that goes. But in basics, if you offer a good product and good service it will sell and do so consistently. anyways as Dennis Miller would say " thats just my opinion, I could be wrong"

Good post. Many sellers blame the various seasons for the sale slumps. The problem is the same sellers are blaming every season. I can compare it to flea market sellers that have a ready arsenal of excuses for poor sales. There's the 'it's too close to rent day', 'the heat/cold kept buyers away', 'the economy sux', etc.

Someone came into my shop and we were discussing ebay. He told me how good it was with his sales this summer. I hadn't checked his auctions in months and I saw that he had bids on everything and top prices also.
He sells antiques and collectibles, a real mixture and he is doing just great. So I agree with what tomyou is saying.

Monday night I had my first 100% night in months!
28 auctions ending with 28 WINNERS!
I feel so Democratic!

everyone but us must be on vacation because my normal bidders are not bidding. Since the postage hikes my sales have been so slow I can barely pay the cable bill

I had a great night! About 85% sold. I hadn't sold anything for about 3 months (on purpose) and am still putting up low-end collectibles, mostly from extended family caches.
However, I had a fabulous (for me) winner tonight. IN 1993 I'd bought a few Ty Beanie Baby bears on sale for $2.50 and given most of them away with baby gifts. Had one left. Started it realllllly low, and it ended at $80. I could not believe it. Wish now I'd kept the others, but who knew!?
And two paint-by-number pictures I got for a total of $1.00 and sold for about $18. I love turning things over like that for a good profit, even though it isn't always big bucks.

Everything I list is selling, but the prices are low. Since I only have 1 of each item, I will probably stop for a few weeks. Hopefully august will be better.

still consistently selling through at 95%.
fluffy
interesting that they're paying ~ I had very few deadbeats for the first half of the year but a bad paying month so far for end of June through July.
same categories, similar stuff.
Generally speaking:
I sell mostly clothing. One ID is new stuff, the other is similar stuff, like new but worn. Second ID sells all items starting at $3 and was created about a year ago. Over 75% of the time, the same items will sell for more starting at $3 than the brand new with tags item.
Wish I had the guts to start my high end items at $3 and run with it!

BTW, not zoomin on eBay!
also:
less than 1% deadbeat rate on the "like new" ID, zero negs, over 100 feedback.

Sales are up and down for us. Last week was a bit slow, but not terrible. I'm glad to know that some here are having great success.

Hello
Had a good week last week Prior weeks (Two) were bad and then a earlier good week. It has to do with good fresh listings. Reruns sell but are slow and of course common material sells poorly. Good material knows no season.

Only had a couple items that didn't sell, but sold on relist. Profits are modest, although some items sold for more than average.
I also live by the No Excuses motto. Sure you may have a bad month, but that's when it's a good time to try something different: sell something new; change your listing format; play around with wording.

Tomyyou, my sales have been slumped for the last few months. You said that the sections where you list have been doing fine. What sections do you list in?

My sales are fine but I sell mostly jewelry and I listed them on very very low price and no reserve, so I take my chances but so far they sold good and some of them sold at really good price, more than I expected.
Just hang in there, I'm sure things will be better.
Good luck,
