As many of you know, eBay recently changed their format on their "End Of Auction" email messages. In it there is one paragraph that concerns me listed under "User Account Protection". It states the following,
User Account Protection:
Be cautious of emails that direct you to a website asking you to submit personal information such as your credit card number or your eBay password. At eBay, we identify these as spoofed emails or websites. If you receive or suspect you have received such an email, do not respond to it. Immediately send a copy of it to [email protected].
At a genuine eBay sign-in or login page, the URL (link) that appears in the Address/Location field of your browser will begin with http://cgi.ebay.com/ or http://cgi3.ebay.com/
I'm concerned that what will stick in some people's heads is "Be cautious of emails that direct you to a website...do not respond to it". Anyone concerned that some winning bidders will shy away from filling out the AuctionWatch forms because of this message?

Good. Those damm forms need to be banned anyway. Sellers need to personalize things more for the customer. There would be much less confusion and many more positive feedbacks would result.

you can't do much about the Ebay EOA notice, but I have the PayPal feature turned off for my auctions. I don't have fixed shipping and need (and want) personal contact after the auction closes. I have had winners send me PayPal payments minus shipping because it wasnt specified in the PP invoice, then had to trade more emails with them and have them go back to PP for a few bucks shipping, what a headache. All these "convenience" features that everyone is coming up with are a pain in the rear for me.....
