I am curious about half.com, too. I have some books to list but I can't find any info about length of listing, etc. Seems very hard to navigate half.com site.
Jack - did you get anywhere with this?
Thanks for the help!

Sue

Listing run until either the item sells ( 15% comission ) or you delete the listing. There is a simple edit function of each auction under the manage inventory section. Unless the item is very unique it needs to be reviewed periodically by the seller for possible price undercutting by the competition. Many sellers will undercut your price by as low as one cent but that is usually enough to get the sale.
That reminds me, I haven't looked at my main listings in a week and I better see how the "how low can you go" wars are doing over there.

Yes, good advice from bidsbids. Go to the "manage inventory" link of your account information. You can edit like mad.

You can use up to 1,000 words and a picture, too.

My one gripe with them, besides the fact that my sales have been too slow to be worth it anymore with them, is that when I get the "you've made a sale" e-mail, I can't then go and look at what exactly I said about the book, to learn what does and doesn't work with buyers. Very frustrating.

When you make a sale on HalfDot you have to confirm it. That screen shows exactly what your comments were BEFORE you confirm it. After you confirm it, that info disappears with the new screen. However if you then hit refresh (or use the same link from the email notice) the screen changes to a 'report problem' screen and your text appears once again.

Just a little halfDot quirk of which there are many. I don't think they have any programmers working there anymore because nothing's changed for a long time.

I always check the item description before confirming it because on light items like thin paperbacks or CDs I offer a free upgrade to First Class Mail and I want to verify if I had that option on the sold item.

Half changes a lot of rules and they are difficult to keep up with unless you read the announcement page once in a while. The latest announement is that there is now a minimum 75 cent price on cards just like books.

Today I changed my shipping preferences to Media Mail only as a few buyers in far off places, of which are many when you live in California, used Expediated Mail aka Priority Mail, and I lost a buck or two on book sales as some books are heavy.

Another fairly recent feature allows buyers to purchase multiple items from the same seller and get a reduced shipping rate. Sounds good in theory but if the multiple items are heavy books the seller may lose money on the reduced shipping allowance. Of course, Half always says factor in extra shipping costs in the sale price when selling heavy items.

Hey, thanks for the tip, zzyzx000!

And, by the way, are you by any chance from the Baker CA area? Zzyzx Springs is near there, on the way to Las Vegas from So. Cal. Just wondering!
