Curious to know what the average pos/neg complaint ratio is amongst the eBayers here. I've got 4 negs out of 504 pos and I'm getting a little worried.

My current eBay rating is just under 95% and
my all time rating (eBay, Yahoo, BidVille)
is almost 96%. I think that if you receive
positive feedback from 95 or 96 people out
of every 100 you deal with you must be doing
something right. I can honestly say that
all of my Negatives are from deadbeats and
therefore are undeserved. You see, I leave
feedback for EVERY high bidder, so I leave
myself open to it. Some people with lots of
Pos and no Neg are gutless and don't leave
feedback for deadbeats (because they fear
the Neg), which ends up hurting the entire
on-line auction community. I've been having
more than my average number of deadbeats
lately, unfortunately, but I will not change
my policy. Good luck!

I certainly would not worry about your 4 negs out of 504 feedback.
Unless they are all together - then I would think you had a really bad day.
If they were desired negs - now be honest with yourself - did you correct the problem?
If they are scattered over time - unless the comments are really bad NO BIG DEAL!
Did you put a factual responds on the negs? Stick to the facts. If you goofed up - say I goofed up.

4,139 unique, 10,730 total.
3 negs ... one from a lousy seller when I first started eBaying in 1998 (I negged her, she retaliated), one from a bidder who didn't understand how to use PayPal and blamed me for it, and another from a bidder who failed to read the description and thought she was getting something else, and negged me without even bothering to e-mail. Both of these transactions were caused by lack of communication on the buyers' parts, and both ended up on positive notes.
12 neutrals ... 6 or 7 of which used to be positives but got changed when the bidder went NARU. 1 or 2 were left by me back in the "old days" when I wanted to respond to another comment. 1 was a neutral received 30 minutes after the auction ended saying "send my total so I can send a money order" (sheesh!). 2 were from a bounced-check-writer who wouldn't pay, and when I noted it in her feedback, she left retaliatory neutrals for me under two different ID's.

3445 positives. 2381 are from unique users and count toward the final rating.
6 neutrals.
10 negatives. 10 are from unique users and count toward the final rating.
Comes out to be about 99.7% positives. I am thrilled with my feedback. I don't back down all the time to buyers who try and sneak a freebie in where they shouldn't but I also give excellent customer service and offer refunds for items if it was broken upon arrival, etc.
I think that if you are under 98% positives then I would worry.

Try to beat this ratio....think mine might be one of the highest on ebay as far as total to unique goes...
6028 positives. 1811 are from unique users and count toward the final rating.
8 neutrals. 1 were converted from users no longer registered .
5 negatives. 5 are from unique users and count toward the final rating
Right now the ratio is 3.328:1

Overall profile makeup 1537 positives. 1410 are from unique users and count toward the final rating.
5 neutrals. 5 were converted from users no longer registered .
0 negatives. 0 are from unique users and count toward the final rating.
---------------
Many sellers must hate me because there are hundreds of feedbacks that say something like "WOW! Received item in 3 days and was much better than described!"

How do you do math? Throw out the Neutrals
as they mean nothing. You have 1811 Positives
and 5 Negatives from unique users (1816 total).
1811 / 1816 = 99.72466% (ie, darn good!)
or 362.2 positive to each negative (ie, ditto!)

Not sure what the ratio is, but the negatives were from newbies. One could not understand an item being damaged before they even sent payment (no money out for them and we apologized)...I guess we can not please them all...but we sure try!!!

2452 Positives, 1782 from unique
4 Neutrals (10 total, 6 are no longer registered) and ZERO NEGATIVES (I have been selling on ebay since early 1997)
I'm shocked that I have zero negatives. I know one day it will arrive...

I have 6 negs & my percentage is 98.20 positives, & 2 of these negs were from an idiot in Singapore who can't read. I state I ship only to USA He was mad because I wouldn't ship overseas. I don't think that is bad for 4+ yrs on eBay.
