I just had my Paypal balance deposited to my bank account. I noticed there was a line listing a "Deposit Fee." It is currently $0.00.

Is this new? I haven't noticed this line before.

Yes, it is new. I noticed it for the first
time within the last week or two. If they
start charging me to electronically transfer
MY money to MY checking account, on top of
the fees they already charge me, I'm gone.
I think the fees are too high now, but since
70%+ of my buyers use it, I stay. Good luck!

Notice Date: June 13, 2002
Effective Date: July 9, 2002
Beginning July 9, 2002, International members withdrawing funds to a local bank account will be charged the withdrawal fee in their local currency instead of U.S. Dollars. The fee for withdrawals to a local bank account will be as follows: Canada, 0.85 CAD; United Kingdom, 1 GBP; Germany, 1.75 EUR; France, 1.75 EUR; Spain, 1.75 EUR; the Netherlands, 1.75 EUR; Norway, 13.50 NOK; Sweden, 16.00 SEK; Denmark, 12.75 DKK; Finland, 1.75 EUR; Japan, 850 JPY; Australia, 2.75 AUD; New Zealand, 3.50 NZD; Hong Kong, 11.50 HKD; Singapore, 2.75 SGD; and Mexico, 45 MXN. Withdrawals made to U.S. bank accounts will remain free of charge.

Actually there has always been a withdrawal fee for banks not located in the US. I think the lowest is Canadian banks at 55 cents and the highest being Japanese banks at $7.00. The did make some changes recently which probably explains why the fee line is seen by everyone now, even if you don't pay a fee.

I just happened to be in my bank this morning & noticed a note by the tellers cage with the following:
"Charge for transferring money out is .55/100 dollars. No charge for incoming transfers."
I guess that you could say that we are lucky not to be charged.
Zathras: Why do you think that P/P's charges are too high? I don't know where you can get cheaper rates, considering that they are paying almost 2 per cent on your money plus a 1 per cent rebate on purchases made with P/P debit card. Standard Visa etc. charges run 3 to 4 per cent for the average business.

Paypal's wording on the notice makes me suspect they may add a transfer fee in the future to business and premiere accounts. I bet on it when ebay gets control.

Everyone is entitled to my opinion.
