Something to Share with all of you...Check these pictures out. 943073442. It's a wonder you can figure out what is for sale on eBay, but maybe everything in the picture is.

Whew! Wasn't one of mine
Someone needs to use editing software - or clear off her table!

Yup, the 'crop' function is a great tool.

Well....they took those pics down in a hurry - I didn't even get to see them! Must be someone on this board! (LOL!)

Remember the one on here one time - I think HCQ posted it...with a title 'what's for sale here?' All that stuff spread out on an unmade bed. Come to find out, nearly everything was! Like a one-size-fits-all - put everything together and take one pic, then use it for all the different auctions.

But you know, I'm always reminded that when I first started selling on eBay someone 'advised' me to always put some other things in my pics...things I wasn't listing. The idea being that people would see the other objects and solicit me to sell them outside of eBay...with no listing fee, and no FVF! I never did believe it or try it, but when I see some of these pics I wonder if the theory is alive and well.

Yeah, she could have cropped that top picture, but overall the pictures are pretty good.

I've done a lot of looking around and buying on ebay the past couple of weeks or so (buying stuff for a party). Anyway, there are some really crappy photos out there. If I can't see what the item is in the picture, I'm not bidding!

I think my personal favorite picture was some brown drinking glasses against a brown background.

One photo for all her inventory.
Cuts down on hosting fees.

Those are the dinner dishes in the background - the glass has coke in it.

She must be in a hurry to sell it. In the upper left corner of the first pic is a tape gun loaded with Priority Mail tape.

That is an odd looking tablecloth, looks like a green bed sheet.

I don't think the photo is staged at all. Sometimes these photos, if they don't take a long time to download, can be a lot of fun to look at, because the viewer gets a glimpse into another seller's home.

Years ago, when I was new to selling on eBay, I had this huge chocolate set to photograph, with lots of footed cups, the pot, sugar, creamer and so on. I photograph the merchandise downstairs, then cart it upstairs where I have my office and shipping room. The merchandise stays in the shipping room until it sells, with the door closed and no pet or human is allowed in that room.

Photographing that set was difficult due to light glares, trying to get a photograph of the entire set, being new to it, and it took me a long time to take the photos. After I got all of the china hauled upstairs I popped my floppies into the drive to edit the photos and in each one, quite visible between the dishes is my husband sitting in an armchair across the room, reading a book. The photos were so clear and vivid I could even read the title of his book. My choices were to haul all of that china back downstairs again and retake the photos, or use the ones I had. I took the second choice, and believe me, I got all sorts of emails from potential bidders about the man in my photos, good and bad comments. The set sold for over $800, my profit was around $700, so the negative comments from bidders didn't matter.

If you check this seller's past auctions you will see that many of her pictures are very good.

Perhaps she was in a hurry or her husband or boyfriend took the last pictures.

There is one seller, and I cannot for the life of me remember his id, he is obviously nude in all of the pics. He holds the item for sale in front of him so that you can see his naked hip or his chest and side.

I hate to admit it, but her pictures are better than mine. I crop mine, but I have a hard time getting the clarity and detail that I would like. Maybe it is the lighting, maybe it is my focus...I don't know. I do know I need to really practice in this area. I need a real Photography 101!!
