Yes, Lance Bass is the first member of the group N'Sync to get launched into space. I hope they make it five in a row. LOL! BTW- what does this have to do with Ebay?

I'm with you sanmar. Those that do ride can appreciate the superhuman feat that he just endured and dominated! 2324 miles! If I could just apply that same intensity to selling, my eBay sales would be through the roof. That's what it has to do with eBay. Inspiration.

So there was an article in the Wall St. Journal today about how Lance earns $25 million from the Postal Service.
Meanwhile, one of the postal workers stricken with anthrax last year can't even get USPS to fork over $100 for some medication.
Further, it said that there is a misconception among postal workers that Lance Armstrong is actually a part-time carrier (he isn't) and that is why to date they have supported having him as a USPS celebrity.
Idolize the guy all you want; it's a free country. I have a lot more respect for my postal worker friends who kept working last year without knowing whether or not they were inhaling anthrax spores.

fluffythewondercat,You mind posting the url?
Since I don't have a subscription,I can't pull the storey up.

Yes I will,Hes a local boy,And I know the hills Lance and his team mates practice on.
You would'nt want to break down in a car,
in that area(steep)and nothing around but open spaces. The 25 million I mentioned in a thread in the round table,The amount of money
used by the USPO for advertizing.

>The subject says it all. I hope he can make it 5 in a row. Never been done before.
Five consecutive wins would be a 'consecutive win' record, but one other cyclist has won five times: Bernard Hinault of France (78, 79, 81, 82, 85). A sixth win, consecutive or not, would be an all-time win record.

MANY AT POST OFFICE REJECT SPIN ON CYCLING
By Maureen Tucker
WSJ, Monday, July 29, 2002
Lance Armstrong, the 30-year-old Texan who yesterday won his fourth straight Tour de France, overcame cancer through a regimen of chemotherapy, Power Bars and grueling, 10-hour bicycle treks through sleet and snow.
Patrick O'Donnell, a 36-year-old Pennsylvania mail sorter, overcame anthrax poisoning through a combination of Cipro, Prozac and "lots of golf".
Both men receive compensation for their efforts from the U.S. Postal Service. But Mr. O'Donnell--whose neck ballooned to 30 inches from 17 in October after he rubbed up against a tainted sorting machine at a Hamilton, N.J. postal plant--thinks Mr. Armstrong should forgo his Postal Service paycheck to make his bigger.
It's nothing personal.
"It's just absurd that Lance gets $25 million from the same organization from which I have trouble getting a hundred bucks for drugs," says Mr. O'Donnell, a 15-year veteran of the Postal Service. Nine months after being inected with anthrax, he still isn't able to return to his job.
[Rest of article: Postal Service critics and now many employees argue the sponsorship of the cycling team is a wasteful marketing expense for a government-subsidized operation.]
Contrary to what someone may have implied, USPS pays Lance's cycling team $25 million over four years. It is NOT the total USPS advertising budget.
My personal opinion is that this is appalling, and it's time for some Congressional oversight.

Lance's contract expires 2004,This is a contract that was bid on and won. His(contract) was probley the cheapest amount submitted, and would have come out of advertizing funds. Why the P.O has to advertize is anyones guess(like we have a choice)But it is earmarked strickly for that.
The P.O is a Corporation, and pretty much does what it wants too.Had there been a question of what to use that money for,Of course any of us would say use it for the
Postal employees(I know some) But there was no choice.
I still like Lance,And would rather see him
cycle to victory no matter which Corp.
was the sponser. The P.O was the only one that
took the chance,Everyone else(Co.s)did'nt
want to be associated with anyone who had
CANCER.

Really? And what exactly would you have congress oversee? Have you seen the USPS medical plan? Are you aware of all of the facts surrounding the postal worker who is claiming he can't get his medications? Is it at least in the realm of possibility that regardless of the money the USPS spends on advertising, that this guy wouldn't get certain medications npaid for because the medical plan won't cover them?
Maybe you can point to the direct correlation to this guy not getting his meds paid for and the USPS support of the Lance Armstrong team.
