I hand delivered a 26 pound box of books to the P.O. on the 28th. It had eDC# from the Shipping Assistant. After 2 days it wasn't in the system yet, so I e-mail their web site.
On the 31st (3 days) they gave a cut/paste answer that it wasn't in the system yet. Well, duh, that's what I want to know - why isn't it "in the system." Where is my package? After reading the e-mail, I checked again to see if the # is showing up yet, and it is:
"The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper or shipping partner on July 30, 2002 at 10:31 pm to expect your package for mailing. Status is updated every evening. Please check again later."
Here is what happened earlier:
ENROUTE, July 30, 2002, 6:56 am, WARRENDALE, PA 15095
I've never had a package not show up for 3 days except when their web site went down to raise the prices.
So, does that mean the package sat in Ohio (origin) for 3 days before being scanned, or was trucked over to PA and then rec'd it's first scan? Why does it show as being scanned the day before (2 days)? Since they update their site each evening, it should have shown up the evening of the 30th.
-------------
When all is said & done, I only care that my buyer receives it safely.
The wierd thing is this: when I handed it to the clerk, she said, "Are all your packages showing up on the web site now?". She was referring to the DC #'s. Why wouldn't they? Like I said, I never had any trouble before.

I've been told by my postal clerk that media-rate mail doesn't get sent out until a large container is full...So, my guess is that it doesn't get scanned until it actually gets sent out...after, perhaps, sitting in the post office for a while. Guess that's one reason it's so much cheaper to send that way!

i asked the postal clerk just yesterday and he said they had 48 hours in which to send it out. So it wasn't entered until the last part of the 48 hours so probably someone forgot to scan it when it left your PO and the next point to which it goes scaned it first.

OK. I thought it was supposed to scan when received. I don't mind it being slower. It just looked like it was lost for awhile.

It is IMPORTANT to remember that the USPS describes DC as being NOT a tracking system!
DC provides evidence that the item was DELIVERED...ONLY! Any so-called tracking info that you see on the site when you punch in the numbers is just extra meaningless gravey!
Read the USPS description of what DC is & what it is NOT & you'll relax about it!
