Maybe it's the moon....

I quit about 10 last night, but was up during the night for awhile and checked my email.

Had this email in my box:

"Hi- I received the dishes and thank you for packing them so nicely. I was disappointed that they are not Fiesta as your auction said. They are just called casualstone pottery-not Fiesta. Again, thank you for taking care to pack them so well, I just wish they were the true casualstone Fiesta dishes that are vintage."

HUH?????? For those of you who don't know, there is only one Fiesta Casualstone - and the pieces which were marked are marked "Coventry", which is the line Homer Laughlin marketed this 1970 grocery store promotional under. (There are some hollowware pieces which have an incised-in-the-mold Fiesta mark, which was not removed.)

I didn't even attempt to answer it in the middle of the night.

Got up this morning to a worse one. Lady did a 7.00 BIN back in June on a piece of Indiana milk glass. (We all know what milk glass is, don't we? - and Indiana milk glass? - it's readily available on eBay.) I sent EOA email, and she responded same or next day. After 17 days with no pay and no answer to follow-up emails, I filed NPB Alert, which prompted her to email me a few days later on 7/13 that she had mailed checks the preceding week. When I hadn't received it by last week, I emailed her and told her it had not been received. So she claims she mailed it to the wrong address, etc. After several emails back and forth, I suggested she do a Bidpay, and she did; glass was shipped next business day (Monday I think, but I'm not looking right now). At 8:30 this morning I opened an email from her, which I have copied here exactly as written, punctuation and all (nothing is left out...it actually starts with "glass" ):

"glass came today . This IS NOT milk glass!!! it's not even a good reproduction of milk glass and definitely not worth the paper I wrote the check on.Of course your reply will be "I DONT KNOW WHAT REAL MILK GLASS LOOKS LIKE" OR I REALLY THOUGHT THAT WAS MILK GLASS ETC"I will leave NEGATIVE feedback"

Now people have different criteria for their milk glass collections, and I realize that; some want only that with a lot of "fire" in it, etc. But as far as I know, every glass manufacturer calls their white, opaque glass "milk glass", and glass experts do too.

I looked at several pages of auctions she had won, and it seems she doesn't 'collect' milk glass, per se! Most of her wins are theme (chickens), along with some newer inexpensive pieces of carnival glass.

I have written very nice emails to both of them....sorry they are disappointed and steering them to authoratative references.

What would some of you do with either or both of these PITAs?

Ignorance is not, repeat NOT, bliss to the poor seller who has to deal with it!

I would do no more. Except the neg if you get it and move on. It is not worth your time and effort.
