This morning, the USPS-supplied ZIP+4 engine used by most of the PC Postage vendors expired prematurely. These CD's are issued monthly, and are supposed to have a 90 day lifetime. The ones that expired this AM supposedly had 50+ days left on them, but they expired nonetheless.
Luckily we had an evaluation August CD in house and were able to install this on our servers very quickly. But during the outage, folks couldn't ZIP+4 verify their addresses -- a prerequesite for issuing the digital postage. Our postage servers were up & running throughout this episode.
