Hello I currently run a auction site, and was wondering what a good final value fee would be. Right now it is around 6% and drops as the price becomes higher. I don't charge a dime for anything else please help. The site is located at http://www.buyselltrades.com

Thanks for your help.

I think that i end up paying ebay about 6 percent total, so i guess that isnt that bad, but ebay does a lot of google advertising. Advertise, and that is a good price, dont advertise and you will lose money hosting the site and no one is bidding for you to get FVF because no one knows your site exists.

Wow, you only pay 6%.
Once I figure listing fees, FVFs and non sold auctions, I end up in the range of 15 - 20 %.

bst has a good idea, but simply no one there.

eBay charges what they have to charge to make a profit for there stockholders. As the best game in town, buyers & sellers are willing to pay the price for performance. I looked at your site, its pretty, loads slow, and took too many clicks to get to the goodies.
Personally I think the novelity of the online auction site is wearing thin. Amazon, yahoo, eBay seem to be focusing in on capturing large retailers to the fold and using a form of buy it know / fixed price rather than bidding. They are looking to get rid of sellers like me trying to get rid of the junk in cellar!
