Ok this is a dumb question, I'm sure you guys have talked about Bidpay before here.
In fact I received a Bidpay money order once before, maybe 2? years ago.

Well I received an email saying that a buyer has used Bidpay, BUT it said that its not confirmed yet (I don't remember anything like that on the one before) and it asks me to register my ebay email with them? and gives a link to do so at Bidpay.

Question: Why would a money order be pending? And do I have to register with Bidpay?

Thanks!

The money order is pending because the buyer used a credit card to purchase it. It usually takes bidpay 1-12 hours to get authorization on the credit card, and as soon as they do they will send you a email telling you that the money order has been mailed (snail mail of course) and that you can (if you want to) go ahead and ship the merchandise to the buyer.

I am not sure if you HAVE to register with bidpay or not. I have been a registered seller there since I started on ebay, so I don't remember if registration is mandatory.

Hi Toptwo

Thanks! I have no idea about bidpay, on the receiving end anyway, so wasn't sure about pending. PLUS, I never did receive the buyers address. First I've heard from the buyer (remotely anyway ) since the auction ended, almost 2 weeks ago...

Thanks!

You don't have to be registered with Bidpay to receive a payment from them. However, if you do register, they will verify that the bidder has your correct address.

The first email from Bidpay is a "Heads Up" notice that the buyer has applied for a money order. Bidpay will investigate to see if the credit card he used is stolen, maxed out or if there is some other problem. You will receive a second email confirming that it has been approved and that a money order is on the way. The second email will have the full name and address of the buyer. In fact, Bidpay will instruct you to contact them if the buyer wants the item shipped to an address that is different than what is in their notice. You don't have to register with Bidpay, but it's a good idea. They will use your registered address as the default for mailing the money order, so if your buyer screws up and gives them the wrong address, you'll be assured of getting your money anyway.

The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.
