in being a Power Seller. Do they have more Perks that the rest of us and why? I don't understand the conceipt of Power Seller. The small mom and pop sellers to me are just as important and give better service. This is my opinion..Give us yours. thanks

They do have a few persks smallers don't get but they are also held to some high sales levels monthly that small sellers wouldn't come close to meeting.

they also must offer money back guarntees that small sellers are not held to.

in return they get a phone number to a personal ebay rep and a logo to use on there auctions..

I don't know if they get more perks or not, but in my own experience their "power" comes from a zillion sales, and not necessarily great personal service. I have always received the items I have purchased from them, and they have generally been as described, but they have often taken longer to ship, and have almost never personally replied to emails. I don't like automated messages and don't use them as a seller, I like to know there is a human at the other end of the wire. I will generally try to buy from someone who is NOT a power seller if I can for this reason...
This of course is my own experience, and I'm sure does not represent all power sellers....

Many Powersellers are just small Mom and Pop sellers who still send out personal e-mails. Volume has nothing to do with being a Powerseller for many of them. They just sell a few higher priced items each month and pay attention to quality and are specialized in certain fields.

Before bidding check out how many sales they have running and check their feedback for comments about shipping times.

I really think Powersellers get lumped into one big category and that they take an unfair beating on these boards because people assume that they are all high volume, late shipping, non-caring sellers. This isn't true at all.

Long ago, when sales were much better, I received some information from eBay regarding Power Seller status. If memory serves, it was based on total dollar sales per month, rather than number of items. Seems like it was a minimum of $2000.00 a month then.

So that could translate to one item a month, or ten or twenty.

I don't think a PowerSeller has to offer a money back guarantee at all. From ebay's rules:

Although we don't require you to offer a specific return policy,, we strongly recommend that you have a return policy that is appropriate for the items you offer.

Lots of PowerSellers have auctions with "All Sales Final" on all items and others have it on certain items they offer.

Power sellers do not have to be BIG guns. There are 3 levels, bronze, silver and gold. You do NOT have to have a money back guarantee. You do need to generate a minimum sales amount per month and maintain a high positive % of feedback. The main perks you get is a dedicated email address that is guaranteed to answer your concerns within a shorter amount of time.

I wouldn't be a Powerseller if you payed me to be. I sell on E-Bay for fun and you will NEVER see me lie about the items I'm selling.I refuse to write an ad packed with lies and Bull---- just to get people to buy it. Maybe thats professional to them but its sickning to me and when I see it I hit the back button,it no sale here!Fot the most part thats why I never buy from Powersellers, when I see an Ad like that I'm gone! If thats the only way to sell on E-Bay,I don't want to fool with it.It is also the reason I don't list items like the ones I'm looking at.Why should I lie when I can get more for the item at a Flea Market and be honest.I'm not going to waste my time on games.I don't sell for a status.I think their PowerSeller program stinks!

I'm bronze level,
I sell lingerie so I dont take returns...
I have to sell $2K worth of stuff,
and maintain 98 % possitive feedback,
which I have all possitive.

only when you are gold level you get decicated person to your account 24 /7
for that you have to sell $20 K per month,

i dont see anything great about my level - bronze, I choose to hide my powerseller icon ,

I send all EOA out manulay few min after auctions end, I ship within 48 hours,
if I had the icon up, high % of buyers would worry that I wont be able to offer that kind of service.

as for eBay emails,
I still wait 36 to 72 hours for reply....

Boy, now I'm starting to wonder if I should hide my powerseller icon. I sell my items exactly as advertised, ship daily - even Saturdays, haven't had a negative feedback in over 6 months (I have something like 3800 positives and 3 negatives, 4 neutrals). People wouldn't buy from me just because I have a small powerseller icon by my name? Seems unfair the other way! My TOS is also very basic and short. I work part time as a nurse, so I'm not considering ebay as a job - just a hobby. If I'm losing customers maybe I should hide it.

Powerseller status demonstrates a high level of comittment and customer satisfaction. I do not understand bidders who set their own price, and then whine about the lack of personal service. Powersellers are running a business. You want companionship, get a dog.

MAH645, what are you saying, that part of the Powerseller program is to lie?

I don't understand why so many people don't like Powersellers as you can have just as many problems and maybe more from some other seller.

I am wondering about the people that don't buy from Powersellers and bash them on the boards. Do any of them sell enough to even qualify for the program themselves?
