Does anyone have some advice or experience in how I should deal with the following situation.

I sold an item to someone in Illinois for around $400. I'm in Florida. They paid by personal check, and I (mistakenly) shipped before the check fully cleared. I also left positive feedback. Now the check has come back stopped payment. Even if I don't recover my money I'd like to make things as miserable as possible for this bidder.

you can report them in their state,
I dont know where, I forgot, I read it here on some other post,

you can still pull their contact info from eBay so you know his phone and address,
which you should do right away.
sorry to hear that such a thing happend to you, bad thing you left a feedback,
i have couple of ideas what to do to that person but I dont think I can post it here

I contacted eBay about a similar problem, this was the response.
"If payment or the merchandise was sent via the United States Postal
Service, you may wish to file mail fraud charges. I would encourage you
to review the information on the Postal Service Web page about Fraud on
the Internet. At that time, you will have the option to file Mail Fraud
Charges. This information can be found on the following page":
http://www.usps.gov/websites/depart/inspect/
When I told my customer what eBay had said, they sent the check, it arrived today!

This is, what, the third or forth time in a month that someone has been had by a check swindle. YOU PEOPLE get real!! Quit taking checks!! I learned the hard way over 3 years ago & have not taken checks since then. I have no problem selling & make it very plain in my TOS that I don't take personal checks. I will guarantee you that you will not lose business by doing this. Not everyone out there is as honest as you would like them to be.

ALL I CAN SAY TO THIS IS WOW!!!!!! THAT POSTAL FRAUD THING WOKE THEM UP.....GOOD FOR YOU. THERE WAS AND IS MANY I AM SURE OTHER THREADS RE: THIS SAME THING. POSTAL FRAUD SEEMED TO WORK IN THIS SIUTATION.......COURSE I GUESS IT IS ONLY THE LACK OF CRIMINAL EXPERIENCE THIS SCOUNDREL HAS,,,,,,,IN TIME,,,THEY WILL GET BETTER AND CERTAINLY BOLDER......REPORT THIS ONE TO [email protected].
