bid! (yes, we ALL know quickdraw would EMBRACE this bidders bid, so i'll just ignore him! ( OK, had a widget a bidder with a -1 feedback (1 positive in October, then a negative in november, then a negative in December), didn't want to take their bid, so i cancelled it, sold it to the new winner. then this morning i get this email from the bidder whom i cancelled the bid
---------------------------------------------I don't understand. My only cancellation was because of a duplicate entry for
the same item because I thought it hadn't registered. My standing is excellent
and I've never defaulted on a purchase. I still want the video if it's
available.
---------------------------------------------
WOW a -1 bidder is in good standing. i had the paypal problem to worry about so i ignored her. Then she emails me this..
--------------------------------------------
I don't understand how ebay works but I'm very disappointed by your arbitrary
dismissal of my bid. I would have hoped better from this website. I hope you
have another of this item. It was a promised gift and I was so delighted
to have finally found a copy. I sure hope you respond to my inquiry about why
this happened.
---------------------------------------------
well now, I do have a spare, but would YOU deal with this person? Of course you dont lose any FVF for it is off the net, BUT couldn't she report me for selling something off the net? Ah, it gets better, I then get this..
---------------------------------------------
I am a ebay member with good standing. I do not wish to contact them for regarding your refusal of my bid! What kind of a seller are you?
-------------------------------------------
Uh, OK. So what do you think, ignore or sell her the item (good chance woun't pay anyway).

I would sell her the extra copy.
Give her the total and tell her candidly why you cancelled her bid. Give her 5 days to send a money order for the total, telling her you will be listing the other tape after that time.
Many newbies think of ebay like a Walmart, you just change your mind about the purchase and that takes care of everything!
You might want to explain what those negs mean to sellers she is trying to bid with.
Good luck to you.

My opinion for what it's worth: Don't sell it off ebay. Make sure your terms are listed in your auction and stick with them in this next auction. I would block this person from bidding on my future auctions. You don't need the headaches.
This person has one negative and the other two are from over 6 months ago but they are both negatives. Pesonally, I wouldn't take the chance. They have bidded twice before and look what happened
If you decide to let this person bid on the auction, list all terms in your auction: method of payment, time limit to receive payment etc and if this person doesnt stick to it, cancel the bid and neg them

Ironking, I may be playing the devil's advocate here, but I wouldn't deal with her at all.
There's always the chance she would send payment for your 2nd copy, and all go well. But if anything went wrong - even if just in her own mind - then you'll be singing "It Wasn't Worth the Headache".
Just my humble opinion.
(and I'm usually in pretty close agreement with my friend Rariffle....hmmmm...)

I don't think I would deal with her either. I have had a rash of NPBS lately and it seems that most of them have had little, if any, positive feedback. I am really getting gun shy with this type of situation as well. I also would not sell off E-Bay. I believe E-Bay allows sellers to cancel bids and the sale for any reason. If a seller can cancel because of a low ending bid, why can't you cancel for this reason? Just my thoughts, but again, I am getting very skeptical. I have had more NPBS in the past month than I have had in over 3 years!

I'm a seller with an excellent feedback rating, who just cancelled your (-1) good standing.

This is what I would do. Contact your bidder tell her you will sell it to her but it will have to be a eBay transaction, that is so she can't get you in trouble. What you do is her tell her you will put it on a BIN and she can go in and bid it. You need to arrange a time convenient to both of you when you are putting it on. It will not go into the general search for about 2 hours, maybe less. She needs to go into your seller name and there she can find it and bid on it. This will make it a secure and honest transaction. I have done this and it works. Just keep your fingers crossed that there isn't a lurker out there that will bid first.

Best to just put them on your bidders and email block. No point in wasting your time on this.

She reminds me too much of the Glenn Close role in Fatal Attraction. To avoid her is very sound advice.

WHAT HAVE YOU GOT TO LOSE? Tell her to send a USPS money order & sell her the tape. A USPS money order is the safest, surest way to be paid. Ther is no recourse for the buyer. They can't stop payment etc.

Do what Libra63 suggested, but make it an auction in which you need to give people permission to bid. That way there is no danger of others bidding.
Authorize her to bid on the condition that she BINs and pays immediately through PayPay or Billpoint. Tell her she has 3 days to pay; otherwise, you file a NPB.

Since when is selling an item that is not listed on eBay a violation of eBay rules? Why in the world would eBay care if you sold the 2nd copy?

I agree with shawnb1, I have sold many items that were never listed on eBay to bidders that have won auctions & have asked if I have anymore like it or in that pattern. Right now, I am waiting for a $550.00 payment for items bought both on & off eBay.

Obviously this bidder is an idiot. Anyone with a -1 FB that states "My standing is excellent" proves this. Hit her over the head with a hammer. Simply reply- "Your bid was cancelled due to the fact that 2 of your 3 previous ebay transactions have resulted in negative feedback. Due to past non payment problems with other bidders that have negative feedback, we can no longer accept bids from users with a minus feedback rating". Put her on your blocked bidder list, and DO NOT sell her the 2nd copy. These deadbeats are very creative, and very well may use this in reporting to ebay that you offered to sell off line. You have to think like them to outsmart them. Put the tape on ebay and sell it to someone who actually pays for what they bid on. Just my 2 cents.

there is no way I would let her bid on my auctions. If she sends the money up front I would sell her the extra tape off ebay. If this tape was never listed on ebay, it is none of their business.

Sounds like you did the right thing which is your right as a seller.
Have you blocked the bidder from bidding on your other auctions?
Edited to say that even though I wouldn't have cancelled the bid (some of my best bidders had -1 feedbacks), I do support your right in cancelling the bid.
