Have you ever wondered when you send out your WBN, never hear from the bidder, go in and see what the activity is on the user name, find there is no additional bidding, no feedbacks given from previous auctions, that maybe something has seriously happened to your bidder? I have one now. Usually my NPB have some activity on their bidding but this one has nothing. She has only bid on two auctions, mine was the last and it ended July 29. I have sent 2 emails, 1 WBN and 7 days later a gentle reminder. The emails haven't bounced back either. Would you send another email or just file for NPB? Thanks

quite possibly computer problems. could be a number of things. id wait as long as possible if you feel that maybe there is a legitimate reason for the lack of response. i have never filed a npb or fvf so im not sure what the time limit for filing those are.

Libra, I have a habit of using receipt of email on my "gentle reminders" my tos says 10 days, but I never stick to it. People have things that happen and they go over the time frame. I always contact after auction end, then send a statement after I receive their shipping info. Give it two weeks, then a gentle reminder, three weeks a firmer reminder and file an NPB, which can be canceled if payment is received. A FV is filed on week four, which again can be canceled if payment is received. Oh, I forgot, the receipts don't work on some
emails, like hotmail/yahoo etc. Hope this
helps you a little.

I would file for the fees at this stage. They have had plenty of time to get back to you.
As far as they may be having a computer problem, its up to them to make contact.
After all, they can get access almost from anywhere.

Libra63-I know how you feel, I just had an auction end with a "0" feedback winning bidder. He has been a member of e-bay since January 2001, no record of any winning auctions or items he put up for bids. His e-mails bounced back "user unknown" and his contact phone number was no good. I turned him in to ebay and the next day he was NARUed. I would just file a NPB notice and move on.

Landotters: ..."file an NPB, which can be canceled if payment is received..."

I was under the impression that an NPB didn't need to be removed, as there isn't anything permanent about it.

(Obviously, eBay keeps some kind of record of it at least temporarily, as they know when you file for your FVF.)

I knew that you can have an FVF removed if things end up being worked out after the fact.

Has all that changed?

on 2 different occasions I have had a bidder drop from the face of the earth. Both had nothing but positive feedback, both had over 100 feedback, one was a repeat buyer I had been dealing with for over 6 months. They won auctions and I never heard from them again, they did't bid on any more auctions, both ids are still valid ebay user ids. they each got a few negs from sales that ended the same week as mine. Really wierd!

Rariffle, I wonder if sometimes domestic problems are the cause - like separations, divorces, etc. Those things can happen so quickly (like, one really good fight and....), and the first casualty is always the financial stability of the participants - at least for a while.

There's always serious accidents and death, but usually a family member would tie up any loose ends.

Just a guess.

I'm guessing computer problems. I've had at least two of these and about a month after the auction ended they contacted me. File a NPB and wait, do a FVF before it expires but don't file negative feedback unless you're prepared to get it back from them.

Pull their contact info thru ebay and if it's worth it, call them. I seem to remember a thread a while back about a site that could give you an address if you knew the phone number. You then could resort to snail mail and send them copies of your emails to them.

Most buyers wouldn't be conscientious enough to follow through and find another computer to email you unless they have one at work.
