Last Night I received the biggest barrage of the Klez virus that has ever come my way. One after another for well over a half hour. Kept my Norton pretty busy, but I hate how it wastes my time. I couldn't receive my other email til I dealt with this.
Then Today I get a SPAM from some charlatan offering me a great buy on Norton Sustemworks 2002. Probably not related but makes ya wonder doesn't it?

I too have been getting these at the rate of 5-6 a day. I have begun to report them to their ISP but it is probably not worth the effort.

I have been getting a few spam e-mails that the "senders" said was done by KLEZ but my virus detector says I have no viruses detected.

Something to remember: Almost every Klez takes up about 125 to 135 KB & comes as an attachment. I will not open ANY email over 100 KB, even if it comes from a relative or a close friend. I have told every one that I have frequent corresponsence with that I will not open anything over 100KB. You save yourself a lot of grief & time by doing this.

My husband got a klez virus which came in overnight to our ISP's entire address book. And then went out to his whole address book while his computer was turned off. Yuk. We need to hunt this culprit and shoot him dead.

Got one e-mail with attachment (took a long time to download) from "Slamdunk" Sounded suspicous so I went to edit - selected "all" and then delete and I showed no files infected after scanning with Norton. Is this the easiest way to solve the problem? Have no idea if this was the Klez virus but it would seem so.

Hi Buyhigh,
Slamdunk is the Klez, I have gotten several. I keep norton running all the time and when these come in it notifys me and allows me to quarentine them to be sure they don't infect my system. It's just such a pain because it takes several minutes to deal with and it there are three or four coming in, well.
I think the way you delt with it works as well but then you have to take time to scan your system. Either way these little &*$t computer terrorists win.
Actually, experts correct me if I'm wrong, if you had no virus software and these attachment emails came in with any virus, you would be safe as long as you imediately deleted it without opening the attachment.
Don't you know I just got another while typing this. the subject is "have a excite Assumption" Whatever that's suppose to mean.

Throughiker - I do not know what others encounter but if I click on the e-mail without even opening the envelope no less the attachment, Norton informs me I have the Klez Virus and I have to scan and then have Norton delete the infected file - usually a temporary internet file which I will delete anyway. Of course I have the original Norton program which is good for the life of computer as long as I do not update my Window's system. I do however have to update virus information manually since Norton no longer does it automatically.

Yeah, JACK, AND A TRUCK LOAD OF BOOM BOOMS FROM ME TOO!!!!
So far today, and I expect more "before the night is through", I have received 15 Klez attacks. What a pain on my poor little ole dialup.
As a public service I must expalin how I might have screwed myself. Three days ago I got an email with the subject "stop sending me viruses!" It had no attachment and looked genuine as the messages was, "I have recieved several viruses with your email address Blah, Blah, Blah..."
Well, like an idiot I replied explaining the Klez in the hopes of educating someone else. Within hours, I was under attack! I now believe that I just informed some low life B*$%%@! that my address was viable and ripe for the picking. So much for Mr. nice guy.

NOW,THIS MAKES NO SENSE TO ME BUT! I THREW MY E MACHINE OUT THE WINDOW THREE DAYS AGO AND GOT ANOTHER COMPUTER,,,,IT HAS MACAVEE OR WHAT EVER INSTALLED ON IT,,,NOT AS THE OTHER HAD NORTON,,,,,I HAVE NOT HEARD FROM KLEZ IN THREE DAYS, REALLY AM CONCERNED FOR HIM AT THIS POINT,,,,,,USUALLY HE SAYS HELLO A MINUMUN OF 5-6 TIMES A DAY. DOUBLE CLICK,,,,BOTH BARRELS......

Well JACK, See if this makes sense. I am by no means expert on anything computer. In fact the longer I use one the dummer I get. That said, I believe when some smart person i. e. the virus guys, (they may be A%& H*&#@ but they are still smart) access your computer that has cookies turned on they can leave a "footprint" that allows them to learn certain things about your activities. So once they are given the opportunity to do this through various means such as continueous barrage and especially if we email them as I think I inadvertently did, they now know we are alive and they can piss us off which is what they waht to do.
So If we re-formatt or like you did, get a new machine, we have a time of peace and quiet because no "footprint" exists. But once they find us again, look out. I am trying a new tack. It's a bit of a pain but...
I am going to my email via my servers web page(earthlink) and deleteing all the Klez before they have a chance to connect to the "footprint" I have already seen a decline in incidence of attacks and am hoping that this will eventially convince their computer that my computer died (reformatted) or I changed email address. If they can't aggrevate me they won't be having fun and maybe they will stop. Who Knows?
I'll be away form my computer for the next ten days and will be checking via web mail anyway so this will not be much of an inconvenience.
By the way, in refference to another thread, we all know you are not an idiot.
