This is a long story, involving 2 transaction with 2 separate users, but I will try to keep it as short as possible.

I sell a certain collectible dinnerware on eBay - and have for as long as I've been on eBay; I bought tons of it when there was no demand for it, thinking there would be in time. I usually run a few auctions of it - a place setting, some bowls or plates, a serving piece, etc. I've never had any problems regarding what it is - it is what it is, and can't be anything else.

In mid-July a bidder did a BIN on a place setting; I received payment and shipped. When she received the merchandise, she emailed me that it wasn't what it was supposed to be. I wrote her a very nice letter and (rather than argue my own knowledege, or lack of same), referred her to "experts", such as published books on the subject.

I heard no more from her.

In the meantime, another user bid on another item in this line. When she received her merchandise, she immediately (without emailing me to complain or ask for refund or anything else) negged, that it wasn't what it was supposed to be, that it was "dollar store mdse".

Both persons (and I won't call them ladies) used the same exact phrase (one in her letter, the other in her feedback) that it is "just ----Pottery, not vintage ----" (which in itself would tell any one who does know what these people don't know.

Now I may be paranoid, but I don't believe in this kind of coincidence. I am convinced that there is a link between these 2 buyers - and if I can prove it, eBay will remove the neg ('for participating in an eBay transaction with intent of leaving feedback as part of campaign to harass....')

Some of my reasoning is:

2) Buyer A is primarily a seller, but of new items not related to glass or china. Her feedback is a net 157.

1) A review of Buyer A's transactions reveal that she buys the "contemporary" items in this line. I didn't go through all her auctions, but there were no "vintage" items in her recent buys.

3) Buyer B has a net feedback of 16, sells a few artsy items, and has never bid on another piece of glass or china except mine - at least not on this ID. She bids on designer clothing, etc.

4) If Buyer B really was disappointed, why didn't she email me, ask for a refund, etc. (unless she knew what my reply would be)?

The two buyers are in 2 different states, and I see no feedback that would link them.

But I'm sure there is a link, if I could just find it!

What are your suggestions?

I am not sure they are linked based on what you have in your story thus far, but if you want to investigate more, try this:

Pull the contact info for both people and see if they have the same last name. (sisters? mother and daughter?)

Or try a reverse lookup on the phone numbers they have listed on eBay. Search "Reverse look up" in any search engine to find the name of who the number belongs to. You can also try to call the numbers. If one or more is invalid, she can be NARUed.

Best of luck. In most cases it is hard to find links between people. After all they could have been college roommates or perfect strangers...

Maymaylau, I really appreciate the input.

I have both of their last names, and addresses. (I completed both transactions, remember?)

But you have said exactly what I'm thinking - mother/daughter, sisters, etc. Being females they wouldn't necessarily have the same last name. And yes, they could just be friends.

The ebay feedback system is wide open to abuse. The foolish get caught and the clever succeed.

Even if it is the same person ebay doesn't care. She can buy under two names as long as she pays her bills. So if you are suspicious put them both on your bidder block list and forget it.

as long as one of her names doesnt get narued ebay doesnt give a rats batooty about someone using 2 names.

i had a seller who turned out to be a total deadbeat get narued because of my complaint. i had her contact info and everything pulled. nothing came of it. i won an action from another buyer and they were a deadbeat as well. i pulled there contact info and when i did a reverse lookup on the phone number it turned out thgese 2 sellers were on in the same. tho when i called the 1st seller on it she claimed that the email that was registered on ebay for the other seller and for her paypal account were her landlords. long story short she ended up with both names narued!

i do agree with stopwhining, dont you have better things to do? you got paid. stop whining!
