Hopefully, some astute AW-er can help me identify the maker/pattern of this set of amber pressed glass. I think it dates from the 1930's/1940's and, of course, there are no markings on the bottom. They're small...pitcher is 2 1/2 inches tall. Also...anyone know what the second piece is for? I'm calling it a "sugar cube holder" but I know most sugar containers have lids and this one doesn't. Any help/info is, as always, greatly appreciated!

Blueyes, on what are you basing your estimate of its age?
The open sugar is called an "open sugar" - not all sugar bowls had lids - and this one obviously never did (unless there are 'rests' for a lid inside the piece that we can't see.

Thanks, gc2...This set belonged to the mother of an 80-year old friend...so I'm "guesstimating" it's from the '30s or 40's. Could it be older? This lady friend also has items that belonged to HER grandmother...Thanks for info about sugar bowls. I thought they all had lids...shows you how much I know! Any other info? As usual, all help is appreciated!

You're 100% correct...older folks most certainly can buy "new" things...and the lady who's mother had this set really didn't know when or where her mom got them. Actually, that's why I posted on this board to find info since neither she nor I knew anything about them. However, they wouldn't show any wear as both the lady and her mother were real "collectors" and kept their "pretties" displayed in a cabinet. I've sold some other items for this lady and most of them are in pristine condition...I'm constantly amazed! Anyway...any info is appreciated. Thanks!
