I don't know for sure, but my hairs on my neck rose when I saw this...

The name on the account from paypal that paid for the purchase is not the same as the one that I am shipping to. They purchased two items, 1 directly from the AW inventory and the second from ebay. They wanted them shipped together to the same address, which is uncomfirmed. However, when they paid for 1 of the items through paypal, they entered to send to the confirmed address, which is in a different state.

Here is the scenario that it could be: She is in another state for a while and is staying with another family or friends, but doesn't want to confuse the Post Office with another name for the items to be sent to, or has already had troubles before.

The one that I am worried about is a possible hacker got into someones account and wants the stuff sent to a different account.

Here it is in a nutshell. Two seperate orders asked to be combined. No request to reduce shipping charges. Sending name is different from account name. Sending address is different from 'confirmed' address at ebay.

Two questions...

As I did not accept the card, paypal charges me for them to do it for me, what is my responsibility to this transaction?

If I need to verify ownership of the card, how do I do this?

The sale if for a small amount of money, but compared to recent sales, it is alot to me. However, if this account was hacked or the card stolen, I want the SOB caught.

Thank you for your information and advice, I will appreciate it.

Blessings,
William Ellison:

About half of the Paypal payments that I receive have an unconfirmed address. So far no problems.

robert,
so the discrepency of the names don't ring a bell? I just don't want to be dealing with any fraud situations, and this one was an accidental noticing of it. (I receive payment, they filled out the checkout through AW, I rarely notice name discrepency)

I just am a little nervous.

but you could probably tell that...

Why don't you email the buyer and ask what is going on? In that situation, I wouldn't mail until I knew what was happening. Sometimes I find that accounts are in different names because they are in a parteners name, but it should be easy to clear up if you contact the buyer.

If they were fraudulent, I didn't want to spook them, but I think that your idea Amber is the best way.

I usually e-mail the buyer to confirm which address to use.

Still, I wish they would use the exact address they are going to have their things shipped to as their confirmed address. It would take that little bit of doubt out of the back of my mind.
