Help! One of my items had a bid on it, and I just noticed that it disappeared. How could that have happened? Does that mean that the bidder retracted his bid, and if so, wouldn't I get an email notifying me of it?

It probably does mean the bidder has retracted. Look on your auction page under "bid history". Hope this helps.

If the bidder was suspended, all of his/her bids will be administratively canceled. Did you get an email from eBay?

Wow, you guys are quick to respond! Thanks for showing me how to find out- I looked under the Bid History and it said that the bidder retracted. I guess I didn't think to look there since the Bid # said "0". I didn't know that there were actually comments left under there. Duh! Anyway, thanks guys for helping me out!

The bad thing when this happens is you will not be able to edit your auction any more. Once a bid is placed, it locks the auction from being edited. And it does not unlock when a bid is retracted. You can add to the description, but that is it. Hope you don't need to make any changes and you get a sale.
Good luck.

Be sure to update your blocked bidders list to include this person, just in case it's someone playing games. You can always take them off the list in the future if they email you and can convince you they are legit.
The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.
