Hi all,

I wonder how everyone is doing with their sales right now? If you can please mention what you are selling, generalities- ok...

I actually seem to be doing beter with home decor items than antique furniture right now. What is your experience?

My true collectibles are doing fine! ON the other hand, the iffy ones didn't sell, for the most part, last week. Relisting them again in hopes.

CD sales are WAY down - does anyone else see the same trend?

But my book sales are doing pretty well!

Right now my jewelry sales are better than they were. I tried something that I read on this board about extending auctions from 7 to 10 days if there was no bids just before the 12 hour limit and I got bids on all I extended. So thanks to whoever said that. I am going to try it again this week.

Tack and other horse related equipment seems to have been off on eBay since last fall. Niche site sales on these items are up, however, so perhaps people are tired of sorting through large numbers of listings to find what they need.

I sell rocks to lapidary people for making jewelry and sales are good but everyone bids at the last 2 minutes of the auction.

so-so. Down from last year at this time are DVD's and videos. I think the ebay market is flooded in those areas.

Craft books are way down, only one out of 9 items sold last Wednesday. A lot of my buyers have become sellers! I think the sellers on eBay have increased, and the buyers have decreased.

Militaria is good, but there'a a gazillion sellers out there so you have to be competitive and/or offer something no one else has.

My stuff is doing OK. It's mostly depression glass with the odd garage sale find for variety.

What I have been noticing is that the stuff that's been doing really well usually has a newbie bidding early and upping the bid whenever they are out bid.

I'm hanging it up for October, it's too slow although I have done extremely well with certain items in video & audio. Unfortuntaely I have cleared out all my video & audio because I don't plan on sticking around ebay much longer except occasional selling and buying.

Everyone is entitled to my opinion.

September sales were the best for the year for me. Trading Cards and handmade doll clothes & holiday ornaments are my products.

Just had 2 new trading card sets come out so they are selling well because they are new as people try to finish up sets.

And my handmade stuff exploded last month - I'm sewing fast and furious to fill orders.

Antique Furniture has been way down since summer. I wonder if it is the possibility of war with Iraq that might be the cause. Buyers may anticipate that to worsen the economy.

I used "Featured" on two auctions and now I am sorry that I spent the money for that. I usually got at least one bid by the third day of a ten day auction. Last month and this month have the slow feel of last fall, after the 9-11 tragedy. This is usually our good season. I think that people can only rationalize spending money if they believe they are getting a deal.

If Wal-Mart is experiencing a down turn in sales, what can we expect from eBay sales ? While I am sure there are pockets of strong sales on eBay that shift from week to week, overall sell through rate is probably off.

eBay's revenues are up again for the quarter, but it is hard to tell where the revenue growth is occurring.

As the economy continues to slow I look for eBay listings totals to set new records and then trail off sharply as more sellers become discouraged.

I don't see a turn around until the Middle East issues are somewhat settled.

Do any of you ever watch QVC (the shopping channel)? They've been giving bigger and bigger price breaks and discounts this past week or two. Verrrrry interesting.

Price breaks off of WHAT?

C'mon, guys, "retail" prices on QVC and elsewhere are totally manipulated. Don't fall for that garbage. If it's a good value to you at the selling price, buy it. If not, turn the TV off and go get some exercise.

I often thought that people would snipe at the end, but if the item hasn't met it's reserve during the auction and doesn't appear close, it isn't too promising.

In think that Ebay buyers are low end. More likely to react to the ups and downs of the market ect. I spoke to someone in the Antique Mall who was looking for a certain type of china that was not in the store. Someone suggested Ebay, and he said that there aren't as many people bidding on Ebay anymore because so many people have had a bad experience. Either the item isn't packed well and breaks in transit, the item isn't as described, or they just don't receive the item.

There is another thread going on about Pay Pal chargebacks. The Powerseller in question has over 400 negs. I wonder if Ebay has shot themselves in the foot by not monitering more carefully. I have had high bidders that bid on pages and pages of items with no intent to buy. It takes quite a lot to get them NARU-ed.

We sell authentic high end sunglasses at very low pricing and business has been soft. September and October are historically slow months for us, but we expect the upcoming holiday season to be strong for us.
