Ok, I've been debating this for awhile now. I have 4017 positives, 6 neutrals, and 4 negatives. One negative is from about a month ago from someone who had the wrong email address listed with ebay and said I never emailed him (he later put a positive response and apologized), the other negative is from about a year ago and was a positive comment, but she "hit the wrong button". She also put a follow up comment in the feedback and aplogized.
The question is should I pay the $40.00 to square trade to have those removed? I'm sure the buyers wouldn't object. I have started the process, but now want to get opinions to see if it's worth it - will it bring in more bids? 2 negatives probably look better than 4.

you are kidding right????
Why are you worried about those negs??? That is nothing, have you seen what some people get and still get tons of bids. I have 4046 positives and 13 negs and I feel great about it.
You percentage is 0.09% which means you have on in every 1000 leaving a neg. Whoopee!!!!!
I can't believe how much some people worry about crap like this.
Nobody cares how much you know until they know how much you care!

Most buyers will never look at your feedback. I have over 4300 positives with 17 negatives and it does not have the slightest effect on bids. If bidders see the high number, they assume all is OK. If you want a good example, take a look at evalueville's feedback and bids.

I look at feedback before I bid just to make sure the seller does not have a big percentage of Negatives. With 4,000 positives if you had 25 or more negatives I would look at some of them to see it they were deserved or retalitory but if someone is not bidding because you have 4 you don't need them anyway.
Also my true opinion of feedback is it is the most worthless item on eBay. Most sellers are afraid to leave negatives for fear of retaliation and some buyers use it to strong arm sellers in to partial refunds that they do not deserve. So feedback ends up only being left when everything went perfect instead of what it is needed for, to tell you about the problems.

The Square Trade $20 a pop to remove some negatives is a testament to the greed of ebay and it's uncaring attitude to it's unfairly wronged members.

Couldn't agree more, "tooltimes"...If I could change one thing about eBay, it would be the Feedback system. I think buyers who have had FVF filed should be prohibited from leaving feedback for that specific auction. I'm STILL peeved over the 7 retaliatory negs I received from a non-payer who stiffed me out of over $750! The bottom line is that it's simply unfair that a person who hasn't paid for an auction can sully a seller's reputation. IMO, if you don't pay, you should lose your right to give feedback.

Just braggin', right?
.
A Man will spend $2.00 for a $1.00 item he needs.
A Woman will spend $1.00 for a $2.00 item she doesn't need.

If you want to drop $40.00, I will be happy to take it off your hands.

I agree blueyes29, once a FVF is filed that bidder is locked out from giving any type of feedback and only the seller can leave feedback.
If however a seller is ever caught abusing this priviledge... they should be banned forever and all negatives they have given removed.

Hey Twelvepole...If WE can see this extremely simple solution to this glaring flaw with the eBay feedback system, wonder why the highly paid folks at eBay can't? Or, if the CAN see it, wonder why they don't fix it?

Ebay should pay you $40 since they have not removed incorrect feedback, and it's ebay's fault for having such a poor feedback system that allows this to happen.
What I have to ask is, you had two negatives prior to these wrongly left negs, does two extra negs tarnish your reputation worse than just having the two negs? 4 negs vs 2 negs, I just don't see what the big deal is.
Everyone is entitled to my opinion.

Years ago when a bad ebayer was booted from ebay all of the positve feedbacks they had left were removed and any negs they had left were converted to neutrals. A perfect system until a bunch a whinners bemoaned their lose of a few positive feedbacks from these booted users. A frustrated ebay then came out with the 'all feedbacks stay' policy that is in effect today.
That's my take on how the system evolved anyway.

Thanks for all the opinions. I just got home from work. I was serious, and I didn't mean to brag - I really hate that big red number, but thanks to everyone for their opinion. I think I'll keep my $40.00 and use it to buy more "stuff" to sell on ebay.

Why would they if you are willing to pay for their screw up! Let them pay for it!
I would not waste my time or money on something that has no meaning.
You are doing fine, just let it go.

Don't bother spending the $40, you will still be left with 2 negs and those will kill all future sales for you. You should dump your ID and start all over afresh.

We have nearly 100 negs under one seller id, and the only time it makes a difference is when some disgruntled deadbeat is trying to make a case of how he's such a saint compared to us...
