Help - I list a lot of clothing and have taken thousands of good pictures, but I can't seem to be able to get a picture of plaids - usually the intricate ones like the "glen plaids" and some stripe patterns, without distortion. I have a good digital camera and whether I take them standing close, or zoom in on them, they are distorted. With the winter woolens, I have lots of plaids and have taken some items over and over without success. I see many items listed that are distorted too and I never bid because you can't tell what you are getting. These are higher priced items and I don't want to put up bad photos. Please help!! Thanks in advance Suzyq

Ever thought of using a scanner for fabric closeups? Once in a while I'll have an old Navajo or Saltillo blanket to sell, I use my camera for overall shots and then just scan a section of the piece to show weave detail...no distortion and really good details...
I had the same problem with plaids. What I ended up doing was taking an overall pic which looked distorted and then a close up of the plaid as an additional image. There doesn't seem to be that distortion when you zoon into a small piece of the pattern - I used a Mavica.
Scanning would be as good for a small piece of the pattern, I would think.

That is what I do also. I sell ties and I take a full photo and then I take a close up photo to show the pattern. The full photo the pattern runs together. Here is an example. I hope it works.

Thanks for your suggestions!! I appreciate them. I will try them tomorrow to see if I can get the same results. I have several plaids I have been trying to get listed. Suzyq
