I've read that there is a deadline of 90 days to post eBay feedback and now I'm trying to pinpoint down to the last few moments...sort of a feedback snipe. The auction ended 7/17/02 @ 20:41 so according to my calendar, it's either today or tomorrow and it's just not clear to me which.
No "coward" comments being solicited here...I'm the seller with a Non Paying, overseas bidder who is retaliating to every neg left for him.
It's my understanding that feedback used to have that 90 day cut off but that it isn't the rule anymore and you can't count on not get a retaliatory no matter when you leave feedback.
Most see retalitory negs for what they are if that's any consolation.

It's not exactly 90 days but approximately 90 days. Feedback can be left up till the 90 mark but that time period may extend for a bit longer and may even extend by two weeks. It's a dicey move to not expect a return feedback just because 90 have expired.

I GOT ONE,IT WAS A POSITIVE FROM THE BUYER. BUT IT WAS WELL PAST 90 DAYS. IT CHANGED MY THINKING ABOUT THE 90 DAYS THING. CAUTION!!!

Just make sure you are having some Scotch when you leave the negative, and for the next few days, that way if he retaliates, it won't bother you so much. Just some stupid humor for ya(:

Hi!
All of my 'waiting to be Negged' feedbacks fell off at EXACTLY 90 days (never checked down to the minute, though!). Apparently that is not always the case and has just been a coincidence.
TIP:
It may help if you take a peek to see if the weenie is currently bidding ~ if he is not active, he may miss the chance to zap you back.
My count has it falling off on the 15th (I'm waiting to zap someone on the 20th!)
Good Luck!

Zoomin -
I was hoping that the 90 days would be an exact cutoff, but I'm starting to think not. I am able to pull up closed auctions from as far back as early July (7/5/02), but nothing from June. I found that any closed auction that I was able to pull up; I was also able to post feedback.
It is likely that the auction falls of the Feedback Forum list (the one where you can see all not left for past 90 days), but as long as the auction page can be summoned, a feedback can be left. Of course I could be wrong on that too...
Thanks!
SCOTCH on the rocks - a double please...I am going to post a Negative : )

Hello
Why? It does you no good and may do you harm. The way to get rid of buyer trash is NOT to neg them but to file for your final fees back and maybe look at thier feed back and ask other buyers if they filed as well.
Negative feedback is a joke, Pass on it.

Good advice from dacreson, pass on it.
Negative FB hurts a seller, not a buyer.
I would never neg a NPB, but would neg a bad seller.
Lets hope the day will come when eBay will protect the seller & restrict a NPB from leaving feedback.
As a seller you have to look out for yourself because you totally on your own.
Don't risk your good standing for a jerk.

Agreed McJane, I never leave negative feedback first for a buyer, but I do file FVF. However, if they neg or neutral me for an unwarranted reason, I have no problem giving them a neg. I won't play the feedback game the way ebay has it set up, because if can only hurt sellers, not buyers...

Yes, it is a game & better to stay out of it.
There is no benefit to yourself, or anyone else, for negging a NPB.
I'm with you 100% on filing for FVF, now there is something that works, for all sellers.

Filing the NPB report and collecting your FVF refund is what gets a buyer NARUed. Feedback doesn't count toward that. Look it up yourself.
Non-paying bidder policy If a user has 3 feedback comments for nonpayment, will they be suspended? No, feedback comments are separate from the non-paying bidder policy. eBay encourages you to leave appropriate feedback about your trading partners
Leaving the buyer a neg won't help you one bit, it won't help me one bit either as I'm not going to baby-sit my auctions checking on every bidder's feedback.
I challenge anyone to show me a business reason to leave a non-paying buyer a neg. There is a business reason to file a NPB for a FVF refund.

As a seller, I don't check feedback on anyone bidding on my items. BUT......if they do not respond to my EOA within a week or so, I will look at their feedback. If they have alot of negs I will generally stop wasting my effort to collect from them, file NPBA and re-list my item so I don't have to wait and wait to see if they will respond. So, personally, I do think negs help, but maybe not until AFTER the auction ends. my 2 cents(:
