Well I flubbed, printed out postage, and did not take them today. I read on the endicia page that you have to print an date correction. So I did, all it is is a tiny 'label' that reads $0.00 and the correct date.
Has anyone used this? Does the P.O. ever have a problem with it?

nearthesea,
put the label to the left of your original label. I also print on paper and tape it on. Good luck...

The USPS does fret about "correct dates" on the postage indicia, but let me make some comments which hopefully will make your lives easier.
The reason that USPS wants the date of the indicium to match the actual mail deposit date is because a very, very tiny fraction of these metered mail pieces will be randomly surveyed to gauge delivery performance. Typically, Price Waterhouse has gotten the contract to do these surveys.
Now, if you simply place your packages in a USPS collection box or drop them off at the back of the PO dock (which you are permitted to do as a "known mailer", no one in USPS operations is going to track you down because your meter date is one or two days "stale". It's much easier for them to just get the package in the delivery cycle.
OTOH, if you take our stale dated package up to a retail USPS clerk, he or she may give you static depending upon how happy their day has been. But they can always round stamp the package with today's date and off you go.
My message here is that mailers shouldn't be too concerned if their meter or PC postage date is one or two days "stale". Yes, we have a mechanism to create a "date correction" as do all PC postage vendors, but I wouldn't begin to bother with that unless you've had a package sitting around for a week or so!
We have lobbied with the USPS that a much more accurate (and less expensive way) to measure package delivery performance is via the Electronic delivery confirmation data.

harrywhitehouse: I'm not an Endicia user but I'm impressed by your knowledge. PriceWaterhouseCoopers does indeed do a number of these performance surveys for USPS. We are participating in one of them.
