GOOOOOD MORRRRNING
I shipped a small package worth about $60 to Hawaaii (I know its spelled wrong) about a month ago. I shipped Parcel Post from NY state. It supposedly has not made it to this customers house yet and he wants a refund. I did not put INS or DOC on the package. Is it my obligation to send this guy $60?. Is he BS'ing me do you think? What should I do??
My return address is clearly stated on the box.......

Never, I mean never, ever, ship anything without some proof of shipment.
I know lots of people do but, how do you prove you shippped it when there is a problem?

It is hard enough to get the P.O. to look for stuff you insured. They will probalby not even think for one second about a package that is not insured or that does not have delivery confirmation

Never, I mean never, ever, ship anything without insurance; that you don't want to spend that amount of money to replace or refund.

$60. is a fairly high price to get this lesson; but since it cost you that much, you will remember it.

I agree 100%,just a postal reciept means nothing to the buyer. emailing a picture of the insurance reciept stamped & dated with their name & address is sure worth it..would you give one or 2 bucks not to be asking this now..worth it
on a 60.00 sale i would just pay for the ins myself well worth it..too bad..
try to stay professional with the buyer, they are scared of ripoffs ya know..maybe get him a letter from postmaster of how long it takes..good luck

On anything that is worth more than $25.00, I always try to figure the cost of either DOC or insurance into the shipping cost quoted. If an item surprises me by going for more than I thought it would I pay the extra myself, sure is worth it!

At times I have forgotten to figure in insurance. When this happens, I will list insurance separately with (optional at buyers risk if refused) in front of the insurance amount on the EOA.

If I figure an item will sell for $30 or more I have the shiping rate with insurance in the item description as the sole option. If an item goes for much more than I thought it'd go for and I hadn't put mandatory insured shipping in the auction description then I pay for it.

I do the same. In my auctions I always list S/H to include the postage and under $50.00
insurance charge. If by chance the item goes above $50.00 I spring for the insurance. In fact I had a item go over $100.00 and I paid for that.
It just gives you leverage when someone says the package hasn't arrived. Besides if you had put $60.00 worth of insurance on your package you would have had a tracer number. But also the person that bought your package and living in Hawaii should have insured their own package.

I shipped to hawaii by parcel post once. It took a little over 6 weeks to get there. After a month the recipient started asking where it was.

I too sent to Hawaii,,,,Parcel Post. Delivery confirmation. It was about $18.00. she, the post worker when I actually got to the post office said, for .78 more it would go air, Two days! Weird, two days later the Hawaii buyer gave me feed back and was thrilled with delivery time he was also assuming 4-6 weeks. Make those Postal people actually work for thier pay. Ask for alternate rates. I gladly paid that .78...... Insurance is rather expensive. Delivery Confirmation is all you really need .55 Unless you really feel it make be broken. Believe me when she said .78 more my mouth dropped of course I would pay .78 more to get it there in two days. Check it out.
Whhhhhhiiiiiiip It,,,,,,Whip it GOOD!
