Could someone tell me why ebay allows members to see the list of auctions other members are bidding on? I understand why ebay would allow other members to see closed auctions that I have bid on but why does ebay allow members to see auctions I'm bidding on that have not yet closed?
This only serves to encourage me to put everything I want to bid on my "watching" list. In my case, I bid on lots of family gifts and I don't want everyone to be able to check out their potential present.
Also, I've heard that American bidders cannot check on bidders including the feedback of bidders from other countries but that bidders from other countries can check on Americans. True or false?

With ebay you can tell a TON of things about ebay users. You don't even need to know their ebay ID, just their email address.
It does help when you want to play detective and for instance see if the bidder that retracted his bid on your auction has bid on the same thing on another auction.
The lack of privacy is one of the main reasons that many ebayers have multiple accounts.
