Can anyone give me a "thumbnail" description/definition of these three types of old photographs? I've got an old photo...the man served in the Civil War so I think the photo dates from the 1870's or so. It appears that the photo has actually been printed on the metal...it's not "glossy" and has a "matte" appearance. On the back of the metal frame (this appears to be copper) is written "Columbia Portrait Co. Chicago". Any help/info is, as always, greatly appreciated. I'm enclosing a couple of photos...

Here's an excellent website with examples that will help you figure it out. http://www.ajmorris.com/roots/photo/types.htm
My guess would be yours are tintypes, which are produced on thin metal plates.
