.....Was looking at football cards last night on ebay...I saw one I was interested in and hit it up...Going down over the auction I saw this..."Shipping & Handling is $2.50 Quickship, $2.00 regular"...Now I don't know if the USPS has a new system they just came out with or not, but this looked awful strange to me...I took it to mean the buyer ships faster if you pay the $2.50, and maybe puts your item at the bottom of the pile if you just send the pultry $2.00 "regular" amount...I always thought sellers should ship ASAP, maybe I'm wrong...What do you all think?...

Well, it's not enough for Priority Mail either way, and I seriously doubt we're talking Media Mail or Parcel Post.

That leaves First Class as the ONLY option for cards, and that most likely doesn't cost more than a regular envelope at 37 cents. Maybe a LITTLE more if puts in a lot of cardboard for protection.

I'd say he found an easy way to make 50 cents an order. Maybe he does put the cheaper cards in the bottom of his pile, but would he sell so many cards as to make a difference?

I think the seller should explain his QuickShip option in his auction descriptions. The last thing a buyer wants to do is have questions after reading an auction description.
The option does sound like a way to milk buyers of an extra 50 cents, especially if it is not explained adequately. I bet this sellers gets a lot of "Ask Seller A Question" emails about it.

quickship could mean he is willing to make a trip to usps office just for you else he will just ship on regular schedule, may be once a week.50 cents is a small price to pay for seller to drive and line up at post office.

What a rip off. If you pay the extra 50 cents for the seller to "quickship" the item doesn't mean the item will get to you faster. Media mail/first class has been known to take weeks. Even though the post office says priority mail should take 2-3 days I have people wait 7-10 before getting their packages.

This is just a way for the seller to make some extra cash without paying for fees.

Daruma...We aren't talking drills and saws here...It's a football card!!!...who needs to drive to the post office to stand in line to mail a football card?...You put a stamp on it and put it in your mailbox to go out when your mail is delivered the next day, or apparently a few days later if you only pay the $2.00!!...

Not only that, but I wonder how many bad feedbacks he gets for charging $2.00/$2.50 to mail a card, when they can clearly see he's using a 37 cent stamp (I am assuming)

There are really only two options.

A) The guys semi-shady and is just trying to get an additional $0.50

B) The guy works one day a week at this and will make a little effort on an "off-day" if you pay more.

Whether it's crooked or not really depends on whether the buyer really is getting an added value for the extra $0.50, which we just don't have all the facts on.

2.50 or 2.00,if you dont like it,then dont bid.
very simple.
it is more than the postage stamp, the envelope, the padding, the time to label, and the time to put it in mailbox or post office.
we can argue till the cow comes home, some folks work for free, some folks work for din din ,so if you dont like his policy then ignore all his listings.

I agree, don't bid if you don't want to pay the handling fee. Use Endicia stealth mode and you will never have people complain.

may i also point out that not all sellers are in top health and physical shape, some are handicapped or disabled and some may have disabled family members to take care of .
do not assume if you can do this in 5 minutes, every one else can or should.

It takes more than 37 cents to mail a football card if the card is mailed properly. It should be put in a bubble envelope with a stiff plastic around it so it won't bend. I wouldn't buy from a seller if all he did was put it in an envelope and mail it. I purchased a baseball card for $22.00 and it came in a bubble envelope with hard plastic and shipping was $2.25. I also paid for insurance. I think that is a good price for S/H for a collector card if packaged right. Oh and BTW I mail all my packages 1st class and they get to my customers in 3 days. I have never had any more of a delay.
