I placed a 3.85$ stamp (among with others) on a package to go parcel post, and the post office lady was like "can't send something parcel post with a priority stamp, or any airmail stamp..." Had to argue with her, she even brought out her co-workers, but they told her otherwise. Dam USPS employees!

Highly trained aren't they.

Actually they go through a rigorous selection process.

Those with any brains are weeded out.

In the upcoming months I think we should use the same protocol taking packages to the post office and one would use in catching a flight. 1. Leave several hours ahead of intended drop-off time. 2. Bring ALL documentation i.e. proof of identification, postal regulations forms printed, and web site pages printed. 3. Leave all small office or personal care devices that could be used as a weapon (or teaching device) at home i.e., nail files, stapler, or nail clippers, box cutters, etc!

I find that when I have an extra challenging drop-off at the post office, mood enhancers before the jaunt really help. What ever works best for you.

Remember these govt. employees where not hired on their ability to do their job correctly - they were hired on how well they performed on a standardized test!

You're kidding right? The post office has all but died after their last rate increase, especially the Priority Mail messup.

I still say there will soon be a mass layoff of postal workers or a great reduction in their overtime hours.

I think the average IQ of a postal worker is very low when compared to most other occupations.

The standardized test USPS uses for hiring must be a very unusual one. As far as I can tell, it eliminates all Anglo males under 50 years old.

I've only seen three Anglo mailpersons in my life.

My best friend dated a lady from Nicaragua that worked at the post office. She was a foreign national and not a US citizen. She worked 60 hours a week as a carrier and made a ton of money.

I don't know about all of you but I visited a post office and saw the workings in the back. Stupid or not they have a lot of work to do. I am not sticking up for them as the only ones we see are the ones that work in front. I saw the ones in the back and they were working hard. They have to sort all of their own mail, which at that post office seems like a ton, before they delivered it. It is not a gravy job. Maybe their pay is high but that is because they have a strong base like the car companies. The reason we are complaining is because we all use the postal service, but I bet if you go to a car company discussion group they would be talking about the high price of cars and how horribly they are built. Just my opinion.

Well, my mail carrier parks at the end of my street after delivering my mail around 4:00 and takes a 60 minute nap every day.

Mine too. I think they factor in their overtime pay and drag their feet to ensure that overtime.
Any difficult task become easy with repetition. Once they learn their route it's a snap. It's 90% junk mail that nobody reads.
