Roadsmith I read your thread and all I could do is laugh. You don't know how many times I write that. I was an x-ray tech for many many years and did a lot of them. I guess it just gets imbedded in your mind. Thanks for the laugh.

There are occasions when I will intentionally misspell a word, because it is so commonly misspelled, that most people will search for the incorrect spelling. A good example is when I list an omelet pan. Do a site search for the word " omelet ". Then do the same search for the word " omelette ". I spell omelet in the title and omelette in the description, or vice versa, depending on the outcome of the coin toss.

The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.

rarriffle, If you are talking about diamonds and other gems, them I think you may mean jury, not jewry.

In the town where I live, there is a used furniture store that was moving to another building. This store is owned by a rather mainstream person, but he employees several adults that are ex-cons and welfare clients. They must of created with a great artistic skill, the sign for the moving sale. In bright orange paint it said, MOVEING SALE.

I agree with the spelling issue. If a seller has too many incorrectly spelled words in the description, or lots of poor grammar, then I usually pass on the auction. People usually write the way they speak. If the word sounds a certain way to them, then they usually spell ut that way.

This is such a funny thread at the risk of humiliating myself I will admit to one of my own spelling mistakes. I was listing late at night and I was in a hurry to finish and get to bed so I quickly finished my listing and nodded off.My mother woke me up in the morning and wanted me to read an e-mail from a bidder letting us know that we should check the spelling on one of our auctions. I looked over it three times and couldn't find it until my mother finally pointed out that I had listed a lot of 17 "crap" doilies (instead of scrap). It sold anyway!

Ok ~speaking of catalogues ... is it Catalogue or Catalog ?? !!

When I search for them on ebay I look for both or when I sell them, I always use both spellings in my title.

It really would be great if Auction Watch put a spelling check on the software for us, when I type my auctions I always double check the spelling but sometimes miss something or maybe have misspelled a word

NOT gina50 on ebay

Some of my favorite misspellings are Burgandy and Lavander. I'm absolutely amazed that so many people aren't aware of the correct spellings of those.

Off to look for cheap bowels on eBay...

I am an old person as far as spelling is concerned. Back in 5th grades (1939) I was the best speller in the class. I to this day abhor poor spelling. This is a fault of the education system today. If I can't remember how to spell a word, I look it up in the F & W. I really hope some of you know what I mean.
