Hi, all: Please see auction #2063441205. The seller includes a colored map of the U.S. for shipping purposes. I like it a lot and wonder how it was done (I've asked the seller a question but not sure if I'll get a reply).
Is this something everyone knows about or is it new? It's certainly new to me.

The map came from www.boomspeed.com. I just check out the properties is all. I've never seen this before either. It is really cool!
Ya know what thought, I just checked it out and boomspeed is just a picture host site. Sorry about that

If you had the time I think this could be made by yourself. Get a large map, much larger than a sheet of paper. Probably posterboard type. You might even find a map like this at an office store or better yet a map store. Do the coloring yourself and then take it to one of the quick print shops and have them scale it down to the size you want. You will want a large map so that when you color or paint it you stay in the lines. This is a great Idea good luck to all the artists in the group....

Libra63 has a great idea. You could also find a clipart drawing of a map and use one of the publishing software tools like Photodraw or even Paint to color it in. Sounds like it could turn into a fun project. It would be interesting to see what everyone comes up with.

Okay I did some searching. I found this when I did an internet search on Yahoo under united states maps. When the page came up here was the map.
Here is the address for the yahoo page. Map is on the left.

Okay, everybody--back to business!
Here's the answer I got from the seller, about his shipping map. And let me know what you think about what he says here:
Thank you for your email. The shipping map is helpful. I have never had a problem since I've been
using it. The map is my own creation.....the solution to the USPS Zoned shipping rate increases. I
have sold this map as an auction on eBay and have done several of them for other sellers. Each map
will turn out different, it depends where you ship from. In order to make each map, I research the
zones and zip codes for each individual map and color code it accordingly. I charge a $10 research
fee per map. Since the rate increase and zoned shipping in July, how many times have you
underestimated a shipping charge? Ten dollars worth? If you are interested, you can use PayPal to
this address and I can get a shipping map made up for you in a couple days. The map comes in a
.GIF file format, I will also include instructions on how to create different maps for different weights.
The process is easy and the finished product is simple to understand. Let me know what you think,
-Kevin

If he did it was probably as an illegal choice auction.
I think it is a waste of $10 as most buyers will screw up when they try to determine their s/h or feel like a dummy because they suck at geography.
