Yeah, this seller needs to remove the 24 hour restriction, otherwise it seems fine.

IMO, a seller can not offer a bonus like this one has.
In all bonus listings, the seller must state the exact price at which the bonus will apply.
Where's the exact price the bonus applies?
Let's see if ebay pulls it.

must be a competitor that beat you to the idea so you feel the moral duty to turn him in. IMO you should get a life or better alot your time to your own business and perhaps you will better succedd. but I do doubt that will happen. LOL

I don't even understand what he is selling? The listing shows a box containing 8 cartridges, he says the auction is for 64 cartridges then says you "get" a FREE? Razor
if you use Paypal...for what? He should just list this as a "buy it now" with bonus for purchase.
What a confusing listing...another dissapointed bidder on the hozizon. "Gee, where are all of ebay's customers"? They've gotten fedup with scams, gimmick auctions, rip off handling fees..... I don't even like buying here myself..my last 2 purchases were disasters.

I'm willing to bet the 'get a life' set are ebay rule abusers that are hoping they don't get caught.
Rules are for fools that need to get a life?

I don't see any problem with it. Actually, I think it's a pretty good idea to get quicker payers.

Sure I have broken a few Ebay Rules...most people have.
I have never done anything illegal on Ebay.
I see other sellers breaking the rules all the time...I certainly dont waste my time turning them in...
Whats to gain from that...accept bad carma!
I just dont see the point in it...Ebay does not pay me to police thier site.
What is the gain? I just dont get it...

Why don't you contact eBay about it? The way I see it, that auction doesn't violate any rules.
eBay's bonus rule is designed to prevent sellers of Dutch auctions from offering a free "incentive" to the high bidder. Because that raises the final price for everyone. There's nothing wrong with a bonus for fast payment.

It's also a bonus for a specialized form of payment.
It takes ebay 2-3 days to act on these complaints and the auction is running down. I did turn the seller in.

The only times I have turned a fellow seller in are the times I found such blatant key word spamming that it affected every search I tried to do.
I really don't feel it is my job to police eBay's site for them and will not do it unless I feel it will cause me to lose sales.
Key word spamming affects all of us; people will just leave if they can't search for the things they want without getting thousands of CDs or some such crap to wade through.
I will continue to turn in every auction I find that has key word spamming.
I use key words but only those that are directly related to my item. If I am selling cutlery I don't put Barbie in the key words; and I don't think it is fair for anyone else to either.
I have offered a bonus to bidders who use PayPal. I did not think that violated the rules as the price for the bonus was the use of PayPal. It takes the bidders time to register and become verified or have a confirmed address, their time is valuable as is mine, so that was the cost.

I'm not turning people in for the fun of it but to see what is and is not legal on ebay with it's very murky and confusing rules.
Even trying to find the rules and sub-rules on ebay is very difficult to do. I believe ebay does that on purpose so they do not have to hire another 3,000 workers to investigate complaints.

DITTO.....Give me a break.....there might be some kind of minor sub-abuse on a quasi-clause here, but if Ebay Investigation time is taken up by these picayune kinds of things....then they don't have the time to investigate the serious abuse that definitely is going on. Reporting this to Ebay is like reporting someone spitting on the sidewalk to the police. To we want the police spending their time investigating spitters, or other more serious crimes. Hmmm..
The auction clearly says he is *ONLY* accepting paypal.
So it would appear to me that he *IS* offering the same bonus to *EVERY* buyer.
Every buyer has the option of paying within 24 hours to get the bous. No one is being left out.
You know.... This is such a small add and such a small bonus that I really have to wonder at exactly how much time you have on your hands tooltimes....
And what is it exactly that you sell?

You've got to be kidding me. Nothing in that auction bonus description looks illegal to me. In fact, I think that is a great and somewhat innovative way of speeding the whole post-auction process along.
If what you say is true, and you're only questioning this because you want to know for your own benefit what is legal or not, then great. But don't get all bent out of shape when posters question your personal time allotment.
On the other hand, if you're doing this to get a fellow seller in trouble (because they are competition, you want to be a cop when you grow up, you feel a need to impress your moral and virtuous ways upon the rest of us, whatever), then you do need to get a life.

Hello People, my first reply on AW
I have been selling on eBay for 2 1/2 years, about 6 months ago I started selling wedding bands - offering 'buyer's choice' - on sizes and gold color. I didn't know this was against policy. I was turned in by another seller of wedding bands, had to close all my auctions to prevent suspension, relisted and re-worded. Although I don't offer choice of color - but I do offer free resizing
eBay's email stated that my offering 'buyer's choice' was confusing to the buyer. ???
Any way, I really felt 'stabbed in the back' from the other seller. I wish they would have emailed me first with the complaint.

Would you have responded the same if it came from another seller? I have no problem turning in competitors. I hate all the little rules on ebay, but in my book, doing something against the rules (like a direct link to your website on the auction page) gives them an unfair advantage - I would love to direct buyers to my web page too in order to avoid ebay fees, but I don't...

I think it is unfair to have 'links' taking buyers away from eBay and certain things should be reported. But to have a threat of suspension for offering a choice on the item in another color with in your auction is unfair. I have never reported another seller, so far, I have not find anything on auctions that has made me angry enough to hope suspension on another seller. (But I am not saying that there are not auctions/sellers that need that),
Sellers are a breed of their own, and any help from a seller is appreciated. Whether the suggestion says you are against eBay's policy or 'hey, your auction looks great' Competition is a way of life......

naturenellie,
Try this. Let's say they are bidding on a gold color band. You can write in your description that while this auction is for a gold color band, after they win if they decide they like another kind, you would gladly let them exchange. I don't think that breaks the rules, technically speaking...

I have been thinking about offering a bonus, he, he, he,

How can a seller state the "exact price" the buyer will receive the bonus if they don't know what buyers will bid?
If you simply state, "Includes bonus.." then the bonus automatically goes with the item at whatever price bid. That's what I have been doing for years.
This razor auction implies the price the bonus is given is the high bid price, if payment is received within 24 hours. How can it imply anything but? Maybe ebay is trying to eliminate this gray area but this auctions seems very clear to me, pay within 24 hours, you get the bonus.
Everyone is entitled to my opinion.
