I'm asking this for my friend, who is fairly new to Ebay and knows nothing about Auctionwatch. She was the high bidder for a Louis Vuitton handbag. In the auction it stated that it needed a new zipper and had a few ink stains on the inside of it. She was fine with that. She could live with the ink stains and could get the zipper replaced. But when it arrived it had dirt and leaves in it, and some other stuff that she can't get out, and little white spots that she believes is mold. And to top it off, it STINKS bad, and she can't get the smell out. The seller is only offering half a refund when they normally don't refund anything. And is refusing to do anything else about it. What can she do and file what with who to get the help she needs? This has really left a bad taste in her mouth about some people on Ebay, and I'm not sure where to direct her. She also paid by Paypal. Thanks...

Wow! I would really be livid if I received something like this in the mail. If this is a true LV why didn't the seller send it back to the company to get a new Zipper unless they bought it at a garage sale. LV guarantees their products for life if you are the original owner. I think you have to pay a nominal amount.

I would not accept anything but a full refund from that seller plus postage and if not I would do a charge back. Did she pay a lot of money for it?

Now that eBay owns PayPal do you think a charge back will reflect on the seller's eBay account?

doesn't it have to be a credit card payment to do a chargeback? did she use her credit card?

could you possibly give us the auction # so we can look at the pictures? did these stains show in the pics?

unfortunately, she may have to settle for a bird in the hand...1/2 refund.

it is sellers like this that is souring ebay..make sure she leaves a negative feedback once she receives her refund..that is the only thing these sellers understand

they think they can sell garbage and as long as it gets delivered, they have done their part

The only picture in the auction was just a side view. There was no picture of any of the stains or anything. Like I said, she is fairly new to Ebay and has purchased several handbags, she loves them, and this is the first bad experience she has had and I'm not sure how to help her. I would think and hope that Ebay could do more. I buy and sell on Ebay myself and I could never bring myself to be that kind of seller!

So if you have your balance in paypal and you pay with that you can't do a charge back?
I know it must be a stupid question but I don't buy and I refund if something happens in my auctions. I know if that would have been my auction, first it would have had an honest description and second I would not hesitate to refund if my buyer didn't want something.

One thing your friend has learned with this auction is that not everyone on ebay is honest. I bet from now on she will start asking questions. How much did she pay for the purse? Good Luck to your friend

Libra, I'm with you but this seller is not as honest and aboveboard with her descriptions. If this had been my auction, every little problem area would have been photographed...

I'm not sure about the Paypal chargeback thing, I was more or less asking the question??
