hello,
ive begun to sell items on ebay and my online store. i realized in order to expand business i will have to accept credit cards... hence, i registred with ccnow, despite that they are very good, they take 11% commision in addtiion to 9.95 (i think) monthly fee. is their any other cheaper way that you would reccomend? also one thing i liked about ccnow is it shows the user the total price (inclding shipping) before it asks them to enter information (address, etc.) thank you very much for any help!

Check with bcentral hosting, www.bcentral.com, they can assist you with several choices that may be not only less expensive, but far easier than ccnow--John

CCNow is far from the cheapest, but they're probably available to more countries than any other service. Before giving any recomendations it would help to know where you're located.

billpoint will be phased out soon, but not now.

YasserRahal,

When I first started up a website I used PayPal to accept credit cards and on-line check payments. However it wasn’t long before I saw the need to take credit cards without people having to sign up with a service like PayPal. I knew I was losing money by just using PayPal.

So I came here to the eBay Outlook and asked if anyone knew of an alternative service I could use without getting into a contract. I was told to check out CCnow. From there I did a lot of research and found CCnow to be the best service available without getting into any commitments or long term obligations yet it worked like a standard merchant account and appeared as such to the end user.

I used both CCnow and PayPal on my site and they complimented each other very well. After a period of six month when I could better evaluate the level of business I was doing I could see CCNow was a bit more costly than I wanted. I knew the time had come to move away from CCnow’s 9% per transaction fee to the more economical standard Internet merchant account rates that were between 2-3%

By the way CCNow charges a 9% fee in addition to $9.95 a month for their mandatory promotional program where they say they submit your website to over 125 search engines for domestic accounts and 11% plus $11.95 a month for International accounts. Since you’re in Egypt you are paying the higher rate.

I would use CCnow for awhile before committing to any other type of service. See how your ebay sales go and mean time do some research as to what else is available to you locally. I think the best part of CCnow is it is a month to month service that you can stop at anytime.

dear colonel,
have you looked into www.propay.com-35 dollars sign up,no monthly fee,3.5 % plus 35 cents transaction,no overseas transactions allowed.
cheaper than ccnow ,but of course it does not submit your site to 125 search engines.
you can submit your self ,besides there are only 7 search engines which account for 95% of the traffic.

dodobird,

Thanks for the suggestion, as I said I eventually went with a traditional merchant account and pay less than 3% processing now but for anyone using CCnow propay.com may be a good alternative.

YasserRahal im located in cairo, egypt

CCNow is pricey but it may be your best option at this point. Egypt is on the 'high risk' list and most services simply aren't options. Of the few payment serviceds that do offer their services in Egypt CCNow is the only one that's both a realistic option and one I'd trust.
